i saw about 10 boat club guys try to crash but got kicked out. was pretty funny

was pretty good bit too many hammered people around

That was pretty funny, especially when 4 of them made a break for it, and just legged it past security.

Had a fantastic time, from the drunken pre-dinner to the steak roll at 4.30AM. Very little in the way of music - spent most of my time wandering around drunkenly chatting to people. Plus, BESS-related scandal, which is always fun (though sadly not relating to any boardsies, so very few people here will have a clue what I'm on about).

Oh, and on the topic I brought up earlier, the one in my sock was found and confiscated (boo-urns), but the one in my boxers made it through untouched, so woohoo!

confiscated? they can't confiscate it can they? you should have just drank it outside and came in again. although your tale does remind me of escape from alcatraz with the metal yoke.

nicolair told me he got away with hiding nagens around campus, in the bark mulch and other places.

Eh. I think they technically can confiscate it - one of the regulations on that list that came with the tickets was that any bottles people attempted to bring in could be removed by security. Besides, I had my emergency one anyway. And I didn't want to go into the ball already hammered. Plus, it's not like I was going to argue with them and risk not getting in at all.

Best night I ever had (which is funny because last year's was the worst night i ever had). Ended up drinking my naggin outdoors (after alot of trouble). then when i went in i didnt get searched or even ticket checked! Really annoyed about that!

Last year I got frisked going in. However, I had an accomplice waiting at the gap in the gates, so after I got frisked he handed me the naggin. However, it wasn't that busy, the guy saw me, and got all agitated. So I just walked back out, walked around the block and drank it, then went in, got frisked again, and went inside. Obviously necking a small bottle of vodka isn't everyone's idea of fun but I wouldn't let some geebag confiscate it.

This year I kitted my girlfriends apartment out with cans of kopparberg (pear), bottles of rekorderlig (melon-lovely, strawberry and lime-disgusting,pear-lovely) vodka, jager and the appropriate mixers. The security didn't seem to stop anyone coming and going from residence with plastic bottles so it was all good.

I think the exorbitant prices of alcohol on campus needs to be noted. 5 euro for a pint of stella? 8 euro for a vodka redbull? I wouldn't pay those prices. This type of thing I believe encourages people to get absolutely plastered at home on their wine and beer, smuggle in spirits, and ultimately drink too much too quickly. I saw many many legless girls falling all over the place. I have to admit that I went from being a little bit too sober (11pm), to merrily drunk(1am) , to very drunk (3am) to too drunk (4am), although I've no one to blame but myself.

What were the queues like? (is this discussion acceptable at the mo on boards?)

Also bumped into a couple of boardsies including Agent_Smith, DrIndy and Ladylotts. Always good to put name to face :)

I think I'm going to have a post in each of both wohoo and moan. So for the wohoo, I had a really good time. Didnt actually leave till 9am and spent very little time inside. Have heard lots of interesting things from security and maintenance as a result. Oh and dinner went really really well.

Best moment of the night, was finding my boyfriend and one of my best friends sitting on the ground in front square sharing pints moments after I'd gotten some pretty crappy news. I actually saw bands this year, how very odd. And only fell once, but that incident goes into the other thread.:)

I've just seen an ice cream freezer being installed in the House 6 SU Shop. At long last: yay!

They were there before, I think a year or two ago. In the Hamilton Shop too.

Maybe they're seasonal, the shops aren't exactly huge so it would make sense if they only put them in at a time when people are likely to buy ice cream.

I meant at long last for this year! We've had ice-cream-eating-optimal weather for a long time now!

I always though the sound of the bells came from the campanille but I recently discovered that some of them (all?) come from the bell above the dining hall.

Also, the provots garden is fricking massive. I think if people are serious about a student centre they should consider building there, or better yet, converting the ground floor of the provosts house.

The clock chimes come from the Dining Hall bell. The Campanile's bells are used for heralding the beginning of examinations and Commencements.

Have you ever been in the Provost's House? The ground floor isn't really suitable for a student centre. In any case, it would be a shame for the last house of its period in Dublin to fulfill still its original function to cease having that function.

I don't know exactly why, but I believe this to be one of the funniest sentances I've read in a long while:

"Bicycle infantry are infantry soldiers who maneuver on the battlefield using bicycles."

    Made my day!

Am currently enjoying a fruit salad bar, and am soon to have a bruiser bar, topped off by a nice helping of a 500ml helping of Coca-Cola.

I know it'll all probably rot my insides, but I haven't had the first two in YEARS!

Well, I'm having far too much carrot and hummus for my own good. Shh, brain energy, remember? It's OK!
