Its good but if you're interested in a sirrus, which is a very good commuting bike Jimmy Stagg in Lucan is very competitive and has good after sales service.

i gave your man a ring and the sirrus starts at 600 squid and the Lapierre bike in
cyclesuperstore is sold out, are Merida bikes good? and would the Merida Speeder T2 http://www.merida.com/s0_global/main_control.php?group0=bikes&group1=fitness&bikeId=57 be a better buy than the sirrus as they are both similarly priced?

Would you not buy a road bike? Not much difference to the bikes you are looking at....

If you're set on a flat bar commuter look at the Carrera Vanquish in Halfords, its got a better groupset (main components) than the Meridia. I saw it before, looks very good, plus Halfords are doing good offers, i.e. €150 free accessories....on Carrera bikes.

    Below is the vanquish....

    Hi,

Recently, bought a new hybrid bike...

Looked at the same bikes you have it seems. The Lapierre was a nice bike, but i really wanted V-brakes. The Sirrus is a lovely bike, but is overpriced for what you get imho... Also looked at Ridgeback Genesis' & Giant CRS's (similar bikes to the Lapierre, really) and Kona Dew's (too like a mountain bike), plus other bikes by trek and Fuji i think.... Anyway, there are lots and lots

Anyway, i ended up buying a second hand Dawes Discovery 701... A bike i hadn't heard of until it was advertised... And a very nice ride, with quality components..

Anyway, the cheaper Dawes Discovery's seem like excellent bikes too, and should go for your price range

I'm also thinking of buying a sirrus, looked at the claud butler levante too. I've already decided against the claud butler as it got pretty bad reviews on the internet. The Sirrus seems to get great reviews. The only thing I'm worried about is it getting nicked!
