    Whats the Buttery Bar?
I'm considering going to Trinity so I don't know the places!
How much do they play for, entrance fees etc?

I haven't actually been, they post events on my site the odd time, you probably wont hear anything until the new year starts. I think the buy ins for the tournaments are generally low to keep the students happy, €5 or so. As far as I know, there is no entrance fee as it's for society members. It may cost to join the society however.

The trinity cards society, it's mainly holdem poker that is played: http://www.trinitypoker.com/. It's 2 euro to join and afaik anybody can join on the night.

Every monday during term they have a tournament in the buttery bar (map: http://www.tcd.ie/Maps/buttery.html)

It's normal holdem tourny rules, €5 you get 1500 in chips. Re-buys cost another fiver and you can get them for the first hour, also 1500 in chips. At the end of the hour if you want a top-up (2000 chips) you can get one for a fiver also. After that it's a freeze-out and top 8 get payed in incremental amounts.

    To ApeXaviour ;

Whats the average prize money every week for 1st to eight ( Average ).?

How many people averagely enter the tourny Eg. 1 week is 50 People and another 70 people so average is 120/2 = 60 People.

What times are the tournys on at and when do the Tournys finish at Eg. 7.00, 8.00, 9.00 , 10.00!

I think they are on at 6pm every Monday.
So you're deciding which college to go to based on their poker society? I like it:D

To be honest it really depends on the amount of people, rebuys, top-ups etc. I think first usually gets 200-300, and the rest (of a total of about 800 euro) is divided among the rest as in 150, 100, 80 etc etc kinda thing.

I don't really go round counting but if I had to make a guess I'd say it's usually 60-100 people, though rarely 100.

The tourny usually has registration from 6.30 and kick off is 7.30 iirc.
They have to be out of there by 11 but often they're not. In which case they're at least on the last table and thus can continue the game in their society room if needbe. When/if some of the bigger poker heads get knocked out earlyish they usually have a couple sit 'n' go contained single table tournaments going on for €10 or €20. Either that or (what i prefer) they take a stroll down to the merrion casino (south-west corner of merrion square) where there is a free-roll on on mondays starting from 9. Being a free-roll there's no reg costs, they also give free non-alcoholic drinks so it's defo one recommended for students ;)

When is it that they do the tournaments in the Gresham? I was watching Poker TV last night and they had footage from that on..

Oh yeah I forgot to mention they hold the odd massive student tournament in places like the gresham (I think that was late march, early april pet). My mate came 4th in that and won a few hundred quid. Same as UCD and UCC's poker socs, though we were the first to do it afaik, and it was the largest student poker tournament in the country at the time (ucd beat it a month later by like 5 or 10 peeps). They're 20 euro buy-ins btw

Hmmmm, are there 'poker with training wheels' tables for the novices? I have an idea of the rules, but haven't played much.

cuckoo, best thing to do is go to a poker site (look below;)) and download free software to play freerolls. These will get you used to how to play and you wont need them training wheels anymore:)
