Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi,

I know you can turn off SSID broadcasting on the router so that the wireless signal is not broadcast. What about a laptop, can anyone see a laptops wireless signal and connect in an ad-hoc way? If so is there a way to disable broadcasting of signal?

And if the signal is not broadcast how do you connect to another laptop?
I'm waiting on a wireless adaptor to arrive for a second laptop and this just occured to me!

no, people cannot randomly connect to your laptop.
You must set up an ad-hoc network specifically to use it.
Windows Xp has a great wizard for doing so.
Also the fact that you will be using WEP or WMA will prevent others from connecting.

youll connect to the other laptop through the router.

if it xp just run "set up a home or small office network" wizard from the network connections page
