Ntl Wireless Router and High Pings

Hey, I'm using the Netgear WGR614 as a hub and it works fine. Except for when I try and play games. I get constant ping spikes every 2 seconds. I'm using 2 comps and we've checked for spyware/virii. When I pull the second cable out, the pings return to normal. What could it be?
