How long to get VAT reg'd?

    Does anyone know how long it takes to get VAT registered once you've sent in the forms?

    I am in Wicklow

    my friend registered for vat a while back.hes right beside me and he is saying it took 2-3 weeks maximum

    Can and does take up to 6 weeks depending on the tax office.

    Got mine in about 2 weeks. Which I thought was a bit long actually. ;) Wouldn't fancy waiting around for up to 6 weeks tbh.

    If you ring them and tell them you need it urgently they can do it very fast. I got mine done in less than a week for a sole trader. It's just your PPS number so it is very easy to do.
