    Fairly boring thread i'm afraid.
I've been Mp3less since my 3g 10gb Ipod's battery died on me (ages ago) so i want to bring it back to life. I'm not shelling out on a new one so i'm going to fit a battery myself. Just want to ask if anyone has bought one of these type batteries of ebay. Want to make sure im not buying a bogey.

    Any help/advice is appreciated.

Edit: Seems that this is another type that can be bought. Is one better than the other?

What difference is there between 600mAh and 850 mAh?

If the batteries used in iPods are of the Li-ion then as far as i know, they can be reconditioned. This type of battery has a nasty habit of seeming to go dead, but is really only 'sleeping' Reconditioning is usually done by discharging a high capacity capacitor through them. I'm not very good at electronics myself, so i wouldn't be able to tell you exactly how to do it, but i would suggest trying the electronics forum.

    Hope this helps

thanks guys. I couldn't find much on reconditioning so i went ahead and ordered a new one of eurobatteries. Worked out at 24€, as opposed to 37€ on the american one. So thats sorted.

One more problem, cheapest place to get a USB cable for it? I broke/cut up my other one. Can't be firewire as i don't have firewire on the old PC.

EDIT:got one from ebay, everything is okeydoke now. THanks for the info

Do you mean you take apart your ipod to fit in a new battery?
Cause I don't see any place to open it.
