Vc is victor chandler, ppp is paddy power poker. You can lodge into a PPP account in any PP shop.
Google is your friend regarding AB, but let's just say he knows how to play poker.

Open an account with Paddypower Bookies, and when you sign up for a poker account the two can be linked. You can then top up your pp account in any pp bookie shop.
Andy won 1.8 million in the world series of poker- the most ever won by an Irish Player

....yes I knocked Andy out :D:D  .I'd like to say it was spectacular but it wasn't. He'd lost more than half his stack on the hand before and was down to about $5000, I was chip leader on about $44000 and on the button I think. Anyway.. he went all in, I had K J off and called (showdown) He'd A 5 suited and I caught a K on the turn. I finished 2nd over all so another $580. My best placing so far by the way, been playing about 3 months. I've just moved from Swords to Drogheda and was wondering if anyone knows of any poker in the area??

very well played rounders, you didn't seem in too much trouble at any point. My only complaint, and not much of a complaint at that, is the payout structure (although it's the same with all tournaments)

    $72 for 8th of 117
    $870 for 1st, $580 for 2nd.

By the time the final table formed only 3 players had more than 10 BBs and it became a bit of a lottery to try and stay in contention. At times I feel that the disparity between 1st and 9th is a little unfair because most of your work has been done to make the last 9, after that you need to get a bit lucky at times.

Enjoyed it though and made the final table in the $200 freeroll that started at the same time as well as 2nd in a $25 STT so not a bad couple of hours.

well played to you too Scotty, even if you did knock me out as well. A bit lucky both times but close enough to justify the calls. Congratulations.

cheers Iago i had you down as a possible winner/definate higher finisher but you took a couple of hits at crucial times.
yeah i do agree actually with what you said above. with a couple of tables left and the blinds as high as they were i thought i was doing crap until i checked the leaderboard again and seen i was in the top few. ive always thought to myself that they should freeze the blinds at some point when the final table forms because when the majority of players havent even 10BBs it is one move only all in.
gary jones said on 'the poker godfather'(best programme on the poker channel) that the skill is actually just getting to the final table because of the reason you mentioned. freezing the blinds at some point would surely help.

do you even READ any of the posts..............

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,806 ✭✭✭Lafortezza

sugardaddy: I'd suggest that you relax and read the forums for a while.
If you feel energetic then you could use the search feature on boards and include the words "Andy Black", or "Paddy Power beginner" or "poker television".

Welcome to the forums by the way, always nice to have new posters. The regulars aren't a nice bunch though, if they think your post isn't of a high enough quality they will dish out the abuse. I would never do that to a new member.

might end my PPP boycott and enter in that tourney tonight alright......

He knocked me out in 37th, he stole the blinds twice, I had about 6000 and he went all in for the 3rd time. Had to call with 1010, of course he hit a ace on the turn.

lol... sry about sucking out on you duff man...... but I did a lot worse to a few others :D ......

I was writing up my mortgage approval with a buddy (who works in a bank) at the same time. so I actually wasn't watching the game at all... just made a move when the screen popped up... so I didnt really care... most times I just went all in with anything... or folded.

Using this mechanism I managed to get to 27th position... what a joke. I had KJ against AA and got a flush......
AK against AA and got a straight..... (that was a split by the way)
JJ against KK and rivered a J...... and there were more examples.....
every time I got lucky... it was hilarious.....

Oscar made the point last night that the PPP tournaments are better value for money because of the structure which is true point because they are pretty fast. Depsite the fact that it decends into 2 card poker very quickly there is defintely a way to play them.

After my bubble stupidity in the Andy Black tourney I played 2 more $5 8min level tourneys and made the money in both. 2 monster payouts. $10.60 and $11.92. Happy days. :o
