Am very interested in getting a Defender. Problem is in this country they are either hard to come by or pretty expensive for what you are getting. In England you have a huge choice and even with the exchange rate the prices seem to be a lot lower. Looking at this post (http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=717870&postcount=14) it looks like a 110 could qualify for commercial VRT...i.e. €50! Have tried to confirm this through the revenue site and the oasis site with no joy. The best I can find is:

    (Sorce: http://www.oasis.gov.ie/moving_country/moving_to_ireland/importing_car_into_ireland.html?search=vrt)
Small vans and some jeeps - 13.3% of OMSP (subject to a min tax of 125 euro)
Other vehicles - A flat rate of 50 euro for tractors, large vans, lorries, etc.

Can someone give me an idea if the 110 fits into the Other Vehicles category before I have to ring them and spend the afternoon on hold??

    Cheers

    bf

For the 110 300TDI it is classed as a commercial vehicle...so €50 VRT it is!

That post is 2 years old and the quote is from a 2000 document, the rules have changed since.
