I am using Toshiba M30 laptop with standard factory fit modem........ Worked perfectly daily for the last year, however, I recently started using broardband and then when I needed to dial up internet recently from my parents house I got this PORTS problem.... "Error 633 : Opening port... modem in use or not configured"…

Tried to re-install modem but no joy.... any ideas what might be going on ? Did BB installation affect the modem ports ?

try dialing up with a dsl filter on the phone socket, should work.
