    Licence: Full (not UK)
    Bike: Honda VTR1000 Firestorm

    £325.91

Couldn't even get a quote on a 600 supersport in Ireland with the same details, and was paying €800 on an SV650 LOL :D

    Age 26,
    NCB, Gone:(
    Licence, Full
    Bike PX200.
    Quinn 843Euro.

Now here is the thing. A junky walked out in front of me and got a bang of my scooter in feb and thats what happened to my no claims bonus. But no pay out has been made so its outstanding.

Is there any point trying the other companies?
Or will I just be wasting my time?

    Thanks

No other company will touch you seeing as you have a claim pending! You're stuck with Quinn for the next while

Is it just me or does there seem to be no rhyme or reason to what insurance companies are quoting these days? Just reading through some of the quotes here and i'm beginning to think they just pluck a figure out of thin air!

    Age: 38(female)
    NCB: Full
    Licence: Full A1
    Bike : 2000 Yamaha 125
    Aon: €229 fully comp.

Was looking at Bennetts in the UK, same details and my quote was £71.18!
As a matter of interest do insurance companies have a minimum amount which they will quote?

Have wanted to start on a motorcycle all my life.

Got a job and got the money together to buy a 125, either a Varadero or a Dragstar.

Rang AON today to get a quote, 18, provisional, male.
4000 euro. Not a ****ing hope of me ever affording that.

How could a young person ever afford that? What a joke.

Ring up someone about car insurance, you'll probably get the same sort of quote!

All you can do is get your IBT, get your insurance assessment with it ( hopefully do well enough to get a grade 3!) and use this to reduce your premium.

    +1

I did training to the equivalent of IBT in 2008 and got a grade 2 as a novice after not too much time and money. If you had IBT and a grade 2 in your hand, you'll definitely get better quotes aside from being a safer rider.

I fúcking HATE insurance companies.

My TPO insurance went up from €330 to €550. The reason? I'm now living in Dublin. I told them that my commute is now only 1/3 of what it used to be, and I'm doing way less miles. Doesn't matter, Dublin is a high risk area. I said "Sure I do the same Dublin miles as I did before, i'm just cutting off the 30km a day section I did outside dublin". Doesn't matter, I'm in Dublin and it's high risk.
So, never made a claim in my life, so about 12 years no claims, 33 years old, full licence and I'm paying €550 for 3rd party only on a BMW 1200GS.
Could have saved about 30 quid with Quinn, but Aon let me drive any bike that isn't mine too which is handy.

At 18 Quinn are the only company that'll give you a reasonable quote. not even worth contacting anyone else for a few years yet. I'm 21 with four years no claims and a full licence and its still not worth trying the rest of them.

Ask for 3rd party only too. Just make sure no one robs your bike.

Went with Quinn under protest, just hope I never have to claim of the slimy feckers. Adelaide quoted €680 but said they wouldn't cover commuting to and from work on a provisional licence. Carole Nash said the same thing, can't remember how much they quoted. Aon wouldn't touch me because of my age.

quinn aren't as bad as you think, supposedly quickest claims resolution process in the business... their claims handlers work on commission so they try get things sorted asap

Wow that is cheap, how did you get it that low? Do you have car insurance with them as well?

best money you will spend is 200 quid on an insurance assesment - if you get a grade 2 result you'll take about 30% off that policy...

Any chance you could ring Quinn and see what they would quote you if you had a Grade 2 assessment? Would be great to see how much it could save not only you but others too.

Just bought my first bike since about 1994 a couple of months ago. Have full German bike license since 1985 (or thereabouts). Haven't driven a bike for approx. 15 years and told all this to Carole Nash when I called them.

Bike: 1982 Yamaha XJ 750 D (Japanese import)
    not restricted
no NCB (no bike insured since 1994)
Was 39 when I bought the bike (just turned 40 now - ouch)
    Insurance (fully comp) € 480

Didn't really complain about that and got it.
