Kinda obvious which way to go then. Some difference!! You'll be lucky to get anything even close to that with CN! Best of luck getting on the road.

What does this "legal cover" cover?

Cover for an uninsured loss. You're unlikely to have your bike damaged by anyone not driving a motor vehicle, so it's of little use. Maybe if you got knocked off by a cyclist? (it does happen!)
If someone vandalises your parked bike or climbs onto it and it falls over you're unlikely to be able to identify them, so no-one to sue.

Yeah that's what I thought. It's a fair bit of money for something potentially useless in a high majority of cases.

    Male 23
    Provisional
    No NCB
    00 SV650
TPFT with Liberty - 896 euro.

    Male - 42
    6 years NCB
    11 years licence
2010 F800GS (value stated was 9k - might be too high though)
All quotes for fully comp plus protected NCB:

    AON - 672
    LIBERTY - 487
    ADELAIDE - 475
    CN - 614

CN (who I'm currently with on a Bros) want €100 for 2 months cover on the new bike until my July renewal. Looks like I'll be cancelling with CN and starting a new policy with either Liberty or Adelaide.

How come Liberty went up so much?? What changed in your circumstances within a month?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,805 ✭✭✭juice1304

Nothing changed, thats why i thought it was odd. I said to your one on the phone that i got a cheaper quote online last month and she said that was the lowest they were going to offer me, she was a right cow on the phone so i might leave it a week or two and talk to someone else in there.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,493 ✭✭✭RosieJoe

Insurance rates can change, this may account for the difference. That's usually why quotes are only valid for 28 days.

Got my renewal notice in the door this morning - wasn't long waking up when i opened it!
€371.96 comprehensive on a 12 year old 125! Will phone them later but don't think it will drop by much tbh. That's a bludy joke of a quote:eek:

Had a look through my last couple of renewal notices for previous years and they were as follows:
    2011 :quoted €287.62 -- actual €229
    2010 :quoted €275.44 -- actual €220
(Quoted is the renewal letter amount, actual is the amount i paid after the obligatory phone call whereby they pluck a new figure out of their arse air.

Just noticed they have me listed as only holding a full licence since last year, when i've had it for 6 years. Think i will have to start charging an admin fee to all these companies that have the nerve to charge me €45 lol

Well just phoned there now, best they can do is €300.41, i asked if this was comprehensive and they said yes, i queried this because i got an online quote earlier and this was the amount they quoted for third party. Supposedly That is the minimum policy amount they give out which i find hard to believe going by quotes on here! So it doesnt matter if i go comp/ 3rd party or 3rd party f/t, it will cost 300.41 with aon

    Male - 33
    7 years NCB
    15 years licence
    2005 Suzuki V-Strom 650

Third party only with protected NCB:

Renewal quote from Carole Nash: €275
    Adelaide: €250

Went with Adelaide and didn't bother with AON or Quinn/Liberty.

Adelaide also said they pretty much don't go below €250 for any quote since it wouldn't be profitable at all... BS or true?

    (AON wouldn't quote TPFT)
