CN don't currently have any joint insurance packages (car & bike) in Ireland, they are supposidly (Sp?) working on it though.

rang cn, they were just looking for the motorbike no claims, just seemed to take my word about the car, might not effect the insurance quote much.

    AON: €844 fully comp.
Carole Nash: Never bothered getting a quote this time, never matched AON the previous two years (out quoted by several hundreds).

Last year: Honda CB400sf €540 TPO.

    full comp policy.

renewal offer is from CN at about 750e
    AON: €950ish fully comp.

so i call CN about it and stress i want to talk to someone and not just renew blindly.

asked to speak to someone about the restrictions (can't transfer to another bike, can't carry passangers)
he then tells me that he can quote a new policy without the restrictions
    and about 100 cheaper !!!!
so renewal is 650 with carol nash with the euro breakdown cover.

    go CN !!

Draggin this old thread up to impart some wisdom.

Insurance is up in 2 days time, got my renewal from CN

    CN - TPO - 1205

Tee hee i though i've called Quinn and know they will beat this by 300 odd.

One fone call to Quinn direct later.

01 Sv650S Provisional Livence, 2 years no claims bonus.

Perviously it was a quote of €780, still quite cheap.

However i was told they could not insure me on this bike, even though i was quoted previously.

Not happy with this i called back to day.

They kep you're details on file, so every time you ring they know, and they know what you called for.

So the girls say, ok Mr Drag what can i do for you.

    I'd like a quote plz.

Off she goes and come back with a quote of €744 tpo

I was a bit stunned and jummped @ this offer, money exchanged hands and away i went.

Subsequently i got another quote over the fone from Carole nash.

They some where pulled the figure of 698 out of thin air.

So policies were renewed and other were canceled.

Let this be a ref to you all. Call and Call and Call again

Speaking of keeping your details on file (in a filing cabinet;) ), when I rang Quinn yesterday for the first time, I gave them my name and date of birth. They already had my address and phone number.

I had to confirm my address details with them... Not sure where they got them from..

Yamaha XVS650 Dragstar (group 6 AON)
Insured with AON cost €540 for this year third party only, waiting for renewal in August.
Quinn Direct would not even quote me.

    Just renewed my insurance.

    Gender: Male
    Age: 26
    Location: Tipperary South
    NCB: 8 years
    Bike: 06 Yamaha FJR1300
    Licence: Full A

Last year i changed to AON as they beta CN hands down, AON only wanted €710 whereas CN were looking for €960 i think it was for TPO cover.

This year i got my renewal from AON looking for €704 TPO....not exactly spectacular but i was expecting it to be around that price. Rang CN for a quote and they still wanted €935 this year.

Then me rings Quinn Direct and after giving all the details they wont quote me for TPO or TP F&T... they will only quote Fully Comp because of the value of the bike, so i say go on tell me, not expecting to like the answer.
They then quoted me €836 for Fully Comp, needless to say that policy details are in the post and payment already made for that one :)

Looking forward to next years quotes if Adelaide and e-bike insurance come into the market, + anymore are welcome if it gets competition going and prices falling :)

My renewal quote is 792 euro from AON, thats for third party only. I felt this was far too steep so i enquired about going on my mothers CAR insurance with a provisional licence, its a 1.3 1996 starlet. Quinn quoted me an extra premium of 632 euro, on top of the existing amount my mother pays which is about 250. The overall premium would work out around 900.

So for 100 euro extra i could go from an old moped to a car! Incidentally, i bought the moped second hand this time last year for 600 euro from a friend!!! The insurance is 200 euro more than what the bike cost me!

stored in parkwest (clondalkin)? does where the bike is stored make a fianacial difference?
'I had insurance with aon on my last yoke, Honda shadow 1100 ace but wasn't using a bike for over a year. They offered 429 tp and 1140 fc, but they wouldn't insure me unless I did an advanced test.
Phoned Quinn and they insured me fully comp for €749.
I could say no questions asked but I'd be taking the piss.

I've been waiting nearly a year for just a simple reply to do my bike test now. Really pissing my off cause i already have an A1 and Grade 2 in training course with Aon.

Anyways, my quote was as follows:

    For a Kawasaki ZZR 250 - Group 7
    5 Years NCB
    E3,000 Value
    Grade 2 Training
    22 Year old

Aon - 1,606 Euro for Fire and Theft or 2,200 (roughly) for Fully Comp - I laughed at them Hysterically.
QD - 491 Euro with Fire and Theft or 732 fully Comp
CN - Laughed at me and said I was too young - ****ers

Did you have to get your bike restricted? I was thinking about trading my cruiser in for a bandit but wasnt sure if I would be able to drive it on a provisional licence.

you can buy the bandit factory restricted and TBH it doesn't make a huge difference to the bike performance.
Quinn did my insurance and normally on a provional you have to do a safety course before they insure you on a big bike but they made a bit of a boo boo and i didn't have to do it (they also insured me for the bike without the restrictors in it)

i was driving a cruiser before ... I love the bandit would def. recommend tradin in the cruiser

Yeah but ive got a full power 650, I wouldnt want a restricted bike, I'll just leave it till I pass the test. I'd love to get my hands on an MT-01.
