    Hi,

I'm currently researching a thesis as part of an MSc. in Strategic Management which I am completing at the Dublin Institute of Technology.

As part of this study, I've designed a short questionnaire to get a high-level picture of Internet/Broadband usage.

Your answers are completely confidential and anonymous, and will not be used for any purposes other than those outlined above.

    I would really appreciate it if you would take the time to fill out this questionnaire which can be accessed using the following hyperlink;
    http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.asp?u=295401276789

    – It should take you no more than 3 minutes to complete. Please forward this to any e-mail contacts you have that could also provide feedback.

    Many thanks,
    Stephen Breen.

No offense intended, but I'm not really sure what that survey is going to tell you. There seems to be a lot of duplication of ideas, and very little other than what do you use your internet connection for. I think all the research you're acquiring is pretty much done, by companies using a lot higher samples than you'll likely achieve. I'd suggest you rethink what it is you want to find out, and if your survey is really achieving that. I mean it's a Masters project, not a diploma project, so you'll want to be fairly thorough.

Like I say, no offense, and I've completed the survey anyway.

Such bad timing. IrelandOffline are about to release their own survey, otherwise we'd have announced it on our mailing list for you.

A couple of your questions seem a bit repetitive if you don't mind me saying so.

thanks for pointing out survey monkey to me. It seems quite a good product.

    Hi,

Boards users are not typical Irish consumers. Most Boards users
will be tech-savvy and probably have broadband so therefore are not
representative of Irish users in general. You'd need a broader base to
    get a "high-level picture of Internet/Broadband usage".

Having said that I did the survey it doesn't seem to be very scientific.
The same sort of question is asked a few times.
The survey seems to assume that almost everybody has broadband already.
It is clear that this is not the case as has been shown in eircom's SEC filings.

A very important set of data and questions are missing from this survey
(imho) especially from the "management of the industry perspective"
and that is what is the role of Comreg in the Irish market?

Are they to blame for the current impasse?

Why do they let eircom away saying that 0k is good enough?

A whole section could be asked to figure out how the Irish public view Comreg
and their performance metrics and do "Irish people actually know who Comreg
are" and if they do "have Comreg ever done anything useful for you"?
"Are we in Ireland not entitled to Service Level Agreements and why is
crap copper allowed to be used?

I could go on all day but I'm sure you see where I'm going on this?
This would be an important component of any survey and would give you a
feel for how the market here is shaping up.

After all a regulator is supposed to regulate and not rely on goodwill and faith.
