I'm importing a car (probably). I'm wondering what effect damage on the car has on the OMSP and as such on the VRT payable?

Our beloved VRO in Tallaght can't be arsed answering the phone. Anyone have an idea?

    thanks,

    steffen

VRT is payable on the fully repaired car, no discount for any damage to the vehicle. Only discount is for the general condition/mileage of the car.

A guy in the trade told me about a damaged car he got VRT'd - airbags taped up, etc.
He only got a 5% discount off the full rate for the car being in below average condition

There was a scam a few years ago that involved bringing in damaged cars, that's the reason the current rules.. :(
