    Hi

I'm in the market for buying a laptop & have been looking at dell's outlet centre recently.

Are there companies/websites who will build laptops with the components/specs that you require?

    Any feedback appreciated

on the normal dell website you can configure most options for what you want, of course building on top of a certain base spec.

There are quite a few companies in the uk that also offer full configuration options including the colour of the case

    http://www.alienware.co.uk, for example

you might want to check with them though as not all will ship to ireland

Ya komplett do CPU's,RAM,HDDs and some other bits but case and mobos and gfx no! Its no that big. Think Dub was telling me a bit back that Peats were looking into getting them in. Some german suppliers have laptop cases simialr setup to the barebones.

    Nukem

While Dell will allow you to customise there laptops, they have a few drawbacks. They never give you the option of loading Linux instead of Windows, they will do that for servers but they only use Red Hat which is rubbish compared to SuSE.
They only use crappy Intel chips and never give you the option of using a more efficient AMD processor. As everyone knows AMD can be up to 35% faster then an intel chip when clocked at the same speed. Actualy the AMD Athlon 64 clocked at 2.6GHz uses less power then the P4 XE clocked at 3.8 and the AMD chip is faster.
