Problem rendering Islam symbols on Main Page..

    There seems to be a problem with rendering some of the symbols used in the Islam forum (if in topic titles) on the main page under the 'Latest Forum Posts' section.

    See 2 pictures attached for example:

    'topictitle.jpg' being the actual thread title as it appears when viewing the thread.

    'mainscreen.jpg' being the actual thread title as it appears when viewing the thread.

    This is pretty much a symptom of computers' Anglo-centric history. It'll be something horrible involving character sets. You may have better luck with a different browser.

    There are also some problems rendering certain HTML characters, so it might be a problem with the character set encoding as its being pulled from the database? I mean, since they are rendering perfectly alright on the linked page itself.

    The confusion happens because while some characters are inherently used in a left-to-right context (e.g. the letters of the Latin alphabet used on over 90% of boards) and some are inherently used in a right-to-left context (Arabian and Hebrew letters), some are used in eithre a left-to-right or right-to-left context - with some such characters being mirrored in such a case and some not. It is these characters that are getting the most messed up.

    There are mechanisms to correct this, but vBulletin doesn't seem to be very good at doing so as of yet.

    probably best to keep out of the title altogether as there are a number of issues with it there. Feel free to put it into the thread though.
