If you get rid of your eircom line must you also get rid of monitoring woth Eircom phonewatch??

Is there a solution to this or a way around it?

As mentioned in the threads spartacus93 linked above there is cellular monitoring but apparently it's pricey.
afaik eircom still haven't tested monitoring alarms over VoIP, but tbh your best bet is to enquire directly with phonewatch/eircom.

You can send your alarm signals into phonewatch by blo*dy satellite if you want - they don't care - so long as they get your money!
(I was on the inside there...)

They haven't a clue, nor can they tell what line or method you use for your voice calls - so it will still work on GSM. Say NOTHING to them or they'll have a chance to fleece you even more, by telling you that you need an EIRCON line.

To put it into perspective, Do you give up work because you sold your car??
No.. you go on a bike instead! :)

The price in that other thread is higher than I was quoted by Eircom, they told me EUR 275 extra on an installation which was already about EUR 850 and the same monitoring fees as if it was a landline.
