Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Italian Federation OK's Video Evidence To Punish Divers![Article]

    Taken from goal.com
The Italian football federation has taken a revolutionary decision as starting this Sunday, divers can be punished using video evidence. Article 31 of the Italian federation’s regulations was amended to allow video evidence to be used against those divers whose action caused an adversary to be red carded or a penalty kick in his team’s favour.

This is a huge innovation in a league known for its great football, but also for its very theatrical players.

Furthermore, players that use their hands to score a goal or avoid a goal without the referee noticing their foul play, can also be punished through the use of video evidence.

It is still unclear whether on this latter issue game results can be changed if foul play is revealed by the video evidence.

I for one am delighted with this in the first step in the introduction of video evidence, and it should serve as a trial for leagues all over the world who will soon do likewise if it works out.

Be interesting to see how well it works. I can see the rest of Europe following suit fairly swiftly if the changes run smoothly, and I certainly hope they do.

They shouldnt restrict it to dives from penalties etc.

Any blatant dive (a la Vieira against Liverpool at Anfield last year) should be punished post-game.

In theory you're right, but this is Italian football, 2/3 of all players would be up every week if they were to look at every single dive.

    I think that's his point.

The sooner this form of cheating is eradicated the better.

The fourth official should be like in rugby, and the referee can call for him to watch it.

    Great to see some action!
