A few months ago, I bought a Philips DVP630/642 DVD player. I had no problems with it at all up until about a week ago when I noticed that the subtitles of movies were being automatically activated each time I played a DVD.

I haven't gone near any of the system settings since I bought the thing and it happens with each and every DVD now. They're all genuine DVDs from various regions. I googled this but I only found one other forum post on the net. The person had the same problem but no one replied to the thread (isn't it always the way?). Has anyone encountered this problem?
