Oh Heads up to ye beer lovers out there

I swear to **** its the best ****ing beer ever. Its so fruity and fresh but goes down so easy. Its like the beer dances in your mouth but its not too strong that by the time your on your 3 bottle you get the 'bad after test'

    At the bottom

Fecking perfection I tell ya so keep an eye out in the off'ies for it. You wont be disappointed.

Hay has anyone seen this forsale anywhere in dub ? Im really interested in trying it.

    Thanks,

Guiness - but only from a decent pub, the canned/bottled stuff is not the same but still better than most of the beers you can get. If I have to drink the bottled stuff then Erdiger.

Large bottles of Guinness can be nicer than draught i find unless the pub is a specialist (I.E a lot of people drink it there and the taps are always flowing) in Guinness!!

    Kobayashi,
I've had Carlton in the Porterhouse, and have seen it in one or two better off-licences

    Steve_o,
    Agreed

    CombatCow,
I spotted the Erdinger Winter beer in a local super-valu here.
Tried it last year; I wouldn't go so far as saying it's the best in the world, but a good beer. Their Okto beer is good too, if not exactly true to style.

Deveneys offlicence in dundrum has Carlton Cold. Didn't like it much when I tried it - wierd aftertaste. Course it comes in a clear bottle so is very likely to get skunked - maybe it had.
Must pop in and see if they have the Xmas brew.
Also looking to get my hands on a bottle of this:

10% :) Finally they're not catering to the usual pi$$y market.

I had Kronenbourg Blanc recently. It's a white Fruit beer. Very nice for a change.

Haven;t seen the Erdinger Christmas brew yet though - anyone??
I'd have to go with the Spaten Oktoberfestbier right now. Also digging Flensburger pilsner and weissbier.

Favourite beer ever has to be Wieselburger.

Drinking the Weltenburger Kloster "Winter-Traum" at the moment - it's nice, quite hoppy, has an after taste a little bit like Brew 39. It's a darkish pilsner in style I guess. Don't see a ABV on the label. Got it in Deveneys in Dundrum. They don't have the Erdinger Christmas brew yet, but they should have soon. Also should be getting a Spaten Xmas brew as well...

I'm going to go with Falcon, better than Spendrups and definitely better than Pripps.

Beamish is good too. Not strictly a beer but hey...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,277 ✭✭✭kenmc

^^^ De Koninck is a really nice beer. Belgian, as usual!
Have to wonder, with a bit of marketing, if Belgian beers would eventually oust Buttwiper etc as the staple of most "joe soaps"....

    and Yang! :)
I presume you're taking the pi$$, but just in case you're not: Buttwiper is pretty much tasteless fizz. I just don't understand why, given that we're paying so much for beer in the first place, that people would by default choose to drink something as insipid as Bud/MGD/Coors, when there is such a vast array of beers that actually have a flavour, for give or take the same price. I guess it's similar to the way some ppl have the "meat and 2 veg - if it doesn't grow in Ireland it's not food" mentality. Not for me though - I *love* trying new beers, the more obscure the better. Some I loved, others I wouldn't drink again.
And it's not being a "beer snob" it's just having an appreciation of the possibilities that are out there, and an open mind.

Never been a big fan of Smithwicks, I have to admit. As red ale goes, it's pretty bland. Try Porterhouse Red, much much nicer.

Carlsberg isn't bad when you get a good pint though, still playing second fiddle to Heineken though if you ask me...

Not strictly a beer? Is it not a stout?

I found it I found it! and indeed it's delicious. Had 2 bottles last nite, 2 more saved for the Toy Show tonight!!!!! Very subtly different from "regular" Erdinger. Will be buying a few more as xmas pressies for the girlfs dad I think, he likes Whitebeers

I'm pretty partial to Castle and Windhoek lager when I'm back home in South Africa.

I tried a Belzebuth in Barcelona which, at 15% alcohol, had a honey-like consistency and wasn't too pleasant.

Otherwise Tiger, Tsingtao and Pilsener Urquell are all pretty good. I'm a real wuss when it comes to drinking beer :)

    Hmmm...of all time:

    Stone IPA
    Victory Storm King
    Rochefort 8
    3 Fonteinen Oude Geueze

That I can find locally and (afford to) drink regularly:

    Fullers 1845

Storm King and Rochefort 8 are available in the better beer offies.

Yeah, I often see them in Redmonds, but having to pay €4 a bottle for Storm King when I used to drink it for $11 a sixpack sticks in the craw a bit, and at €4.50+ for a bottle, Rochefort 8 is strictly for special occasions.

    How did this get revived?
I can't believe that at one point, my favourite beer was Fosters.
