Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Wow! Just discovered this band after buying the Garden State soundtrack. They're one of the best bands Ive heard in years! Which album of theirs would people reccomend?

I thought they were class when I heard them first too... but 4 years on James' voice is starting to grate a bit :)

Still, 'Oh Inverted World', their debut album, is really good - it has their biggest hit (afaik) New Slang, and some other great tracks like Caring is Creepy.

Their followup album, 'Chutes Too Narrow' is a bit different in style and not as good in my opinion, but still well worth getting with some enjoyable tunes.

They also had an EP which came out before Oh Inverted World iirc, called... .... can't quite remember the name of it right now.. it will come to me :) The band supports music sharing on the internet so you can download some of their stuff.

I think it was called 'Nature Bears a Vacuum'.

Get both albums and the EP... they are a great band but i'd like to hear more new stuff, i know the last album is only out in 2004 but its short i tells ya!

didn't really like them at all until chutes too narrow. i think this is a fantastic album. but as for oh inverted world, that just gets a 'meh' from me. some good songs, some average songs, some poor songs...

They do a really good live show, saw them over in Leeds last year really got the crowd going.

Hmm I used to have their lyric "Every American has the mouth of a pelican" in my signature but its gone now... might have got deleted for racism or something. Will put it back in since I didn't get any message from a mod and received no complaints about it :)

Heard a few of their songs last year not knowing who they were. Heard them again on the Garden State soundtrack, 'Caring is Creepy' brought it all back... great stuff

They are amazing. Oh, Inverted World is like 4 star album and Chutes Too Narrow is a 5 star. The two Garden State songs are on Inverted World. Saw them in Whelans which was great but saw them in Brisbane in Feburary and they were unbelievable. One of the best gigs I've been to. James' voice is unreal live. Sounds perfect. I don't think it grates at all. They've got a new album out at the end of the year, they're working on it now and then they're touring Europe again. Can't wait

"you told of us of you're new life,
    you've got someone coming round
    gluing tinsel to you're crown,
they've got you talking pretty loud."

Saw them at oxegen 2 years ago (they were on the same time as the darkness). They kicked ass! Very very enjoyable. I had only started listening to them a few months beforehand, so i was really happy when i found out they were playing at oxegen. Twas oh-so-nearly the highlight of the weekend.
