Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I would disagree the 2 players called up where stikers playing against good defenders. Dan Murray left back, Houlihan playing wide, Des Byrne on left, Osam in centre of the park any of them would have done a job for ireland when playing in their best form. The players picked were the wrong players at the wrong time. There have been better players who were never picked but may have been better than what was playing.

For Crowe to have shined he would have need ireland to press the other team into their half, Byrne would have needed to played on the break. Ireland just lump it so both looked **** and out of their depth.

But sure we can all talk about the great eircom league players that were never called up to play for ireland because there was better players in there postion , lets be realistic when ireland where given irish citizenship to anyone that drunk guinness in the 1980's so they could play for ireland IF there was players in the league taht could of done the job then they would of been called up , Osam and des bryne would never have been called up when these guys where at their peak we had a great back four so therefore these guys would not have cut it !

He has expressed a desire to play for us so its up to the Irish manager to decide whether to pick him or not

No matter who the opposition is, Trundle is marked by 2 or 3 players in every game. Some of the things in those clips above would beat any defender. Anyway, he's not all flicks and tricks.

He only joined the English league at the age of 25. Aldridge was 26 when he started professional football. Aldo was 29 when he joined the top flight and 30 when he scored his first goal for Ireland. :) Trundle is Irish. Like Kilbane, Connolly and Breen he was born in England but always regarded himself as Irish. He's also eligible for N.Ireland but turned down a callup by Lawrie Sanchez as he wants to play for us.

I'm not one that thinks he should get a callup but I think he's a fantastic player.
