My thoughts exactly. Had to go for the rosties instead, but you wouldn't eat them all the time.

Mashed not on the list either I see. Worst poll ever, tbh.

and boiled spuds come from spuds.

maybe you should have left it at just that one option, so as not to make things icky and all.

Plenty mash baked ones too. That "scientific" bbc food program gave reasons why it is better. leaves them drier to soak up more butter
Baked should be up there, if you want only 5 get rid of wedges, wedges are simply how you cut them up, you could then boil, fry, deepfry, roast. You could list slices if you have wedges.

What about garlic potatoes - a big delicacy up north.

There was some bad news for potato lovers printed in the Indo yesterday. Apparently it's been a very bad harvest this year for Irish grown spuds and the price of our dearly beloved tuber is set to soar.

Which, no doubt, will give the chippers an excuse to plant another 20c on a bag, as they did during the last bad harvest.

I love mashed potatoes with butter and a little pinch of salt (and on special occasions chives)

It has to be boiled, I can't stand roasted.

    Ugh no!

Boiled is terrible 'lest one drowns it in butter...

An article in the Irish Times Weekend Magazine on the "crisis" facing the spud from pasta et al. Very interesting. I'll eat them any way.
