Thinkin of getting a tragus piercing and im just wondering, from your experiences or knowledge, is it better to get pierced with a bar or a ring? or does it matter?

Also whats the general price around dublin for this piercing?

    Thanks :)

...and a higher chance for it to get infected.

when i got my first one done i got it with a ring...when i got my second i got it done with a bar..i generally find things heal better with bars...so I'd go with that and if you want a ring change it afterwards...but either will heal once you look after them...but a bar will probably heal faster..
as for prices in dublin i'm not sure...here, it's about 30-35 euro i think...depending what type of jewerllery you want..but I'd recommend either snakebite or bodyshock..i prefer bodyshock! ;)

I wouldnt be too keen on goin there....even the prices seems a bit dodgy to me.

I asked in Celestial Ring the other day and girl there was really helpful and friendly. I think it was 35-45euro depending on the type of jewellery you want

    :)

When I got mine done the piercer told me it heals better with the bar. I have a ring in it now though (think it looks better)

I've heard it recommended that when it's freshly pierced a bar is the best idea, then when it's fully healed go for a ring (if you so choose)

Afaik piercings heal better with a stud/bar

Yea, thats not normal. Do you take care of your piercings when you get them ?

Where do you get all your piercings ? Maybe you should consider going somewhere else.

Well in that case the piercer is the problem, and you may not ahve been taking enough care of them, but go to a decent piercer anyway.

I overheard a girl talking about getting her tragus done at George St and she said they used a gun. Isn't that really dangerous for the tragus? How could it not get infected?

they done mine with a gun. how could that be dangerous tho if the likes of lobes are done with a gun?

it's not just dangerous for tragus, its for everywhere really....needles are better....
with guns you're pumching through the skin rather then piercing it...that and they wouldn't be as steralised as needles would be,they can't be autoclaved...here, read this...it's from http://encyc.bmezine.com/?piercing_gun

    piercing gun
a piercing tool, ironically inappropriate for piercing
A piercing gun, traditionally used by mall-stores for piercing ears, is typically inappropriate for piercing of any kind, especially body piercing. Almost all medical professionals agree that piercing guns can not be adequately sterilized (an alcohol wipe is NOT sterilization); which means that in theory they are capable of passing hepatitis and other diseases.

In addition, experience has taught the industry that:

Ear piercing studs are dull and tear through the body causing unnecessary scarring, pain, and other complications.
Ear piercing guns are inaccurate and not designed for piercing most body parts resulting in improper piercing placement.
Ear piercing studs are the wrong size and too short for most piercings resulting in swelling, rejection, infection, and many other problems.
Any "piercer" using a piercing gun should be avoided.

    Hehehehe
    Very nicely put :)

Claire's is evil. At least they won't pierce your navel with a gun though - a friend of mine had her navel gunned in a jewellers years ago. I slapped her, and made her take it out.
The fact that the same place was advertising nipples and genital piercings just made my skin crawl..
