Maybe it's just me but I hate white cars. I don't mind white vans, I laugh at the foolish first owners of white cars and I get sick looking at white spoilered ricemobiles :(

I have to say I detest white cars. It just seems that the original buyer was to stingy to shell out for metallic paint. I think it makes cars look very dull aswell.

The only advantage I can see is you see a white car in your rear view mirror you usually slow down as you think it is the cops. :D

Other than that I hope you like washing your car alot as every bit of dirt shows up on them, just like black. Resale value will be affected also as white is not a popular colour anymore.

White cars are class,,,, depending on the car and the paint. All type R`s are white mostly anywyas, and they look class. My friend has a white Typr R integra and its looks class. Especially with the white alloys.

I thionk standard ould family cars and such yokes can look a bit crap in white alright. I wouldnt worry about the dirt factor, why would that bother you.

    White is an evil colour.

Never seen a white Fabia, so I can't say for definate, it isn't too desirable a colour so that would probably affect resale value

The Mk V Golf GTI looks really good in white IMO, and also the Maserati MC12

I tend to prefer discrete colours so I'd be slow to buy a white car...but I have to admit the right car can look good in white:

    Other pics of this car:

Some nice-looking japanese cars ("Japanese choose white as their first choice for sports cars..Because it's the colour that reflects light best!"):

(Slide shows at the end of each link)

However, if a car is bland-looking in the first place then white isn't going to do it any favours (a white toyota corolla saloon anyone? sick0022.gif).

@bmoferall - that Alfa does look good, but isn't that white paint 'pearlescent'? It does look a bit so, especially 2nd pix/rear view.

And in which case we're not really comparing like for like (unlike the Fabia is also pearlescent, but I doubt that somehow) ;)

    yeah, it's pearlescent alright.
Just an excuse to show a nice alfa really :)
I think these are the exception that prove the rule: "avoid white..unless the price is right".

White cars look great in sunny countries. In South Africa - about three quarters of cars are white - the decent ones look supercool aswell - obviously something to do with the light.

I think white Integras (late 90s models) look damn cool. Most white cars do indeed look manky though.

the V Golf GTI in white is very nice

I was never a big fan of white myself, but my last 2 cars have had BMW Alpine White II, it's a sort of nice off white colour.

    Just depends on the car...

I reckon you see more white cars. In hotter countries white is a really popular colour. Maybe because its deflects heat better, but I reckon its also style thing. So as we have more people from these counties now in Ireland we will see more white cars. A well sorted car in white can look really well. We're just used to seeing shabby jap imports in white.

The Peugeot 605 with the factory fitted body kit looks stunning in white.

If you ever go to Japan you'll notice that the vast majority of cars are either plain white or red, and I'm talking 90% or more. All these fancy metallic colours we have here hardly get a look in.

I recently saw a new Merc CLK in white...............looked awesome !

I wouldn't order it though...........I wouldn't have the testicular fortitude for that !

How about you put some stripes on that white bad boy? Might improve things a bit...

    e.g.66c7.jpg

(as has been posted before, it all depends on the car) ;)

I'm waiting for one of those very cars* to sail it's way to me from Japan as we speak. Me have hands in pants at the very thought.**

    * 98 spec. Much improved car over the earlier Jap spec 4 wheel nut model. I'm anal about such things :)

    ** Apologies for the imagery

As someone said above the new GTi in white looks great, and I've also seen a new M5 in white which also looked the business. It's this year's silver, just be prepared to expend a lot of time keeping it clean.

Agree, nicer profile than its stubby successor:

Only white M5 I could find:

Try to ignore the safety car livery and beacons.

The old one is nice. But I prefer the newer one myself.

I think it looks alright. You're probably getting a good deal on it partly because of the colour. Squeeze as much as you can out of it, as judging by the responses on this thread he's going to have difficulty finding another buyer for a white car.

I concur with Mr 65. White is for fridges and washing machines.
