Some sites are better than others on the browser. the psp only has 32mb of ram - which is very little for a mozilla type browser (which is what it is). Something like lynx might be more appropriate (in tandam).

Is there really an improvement with avc over mp4? its definetly bigger...

I downloaded a tester video of emperor penguins from some IGN site about the new video mode. Picture quality is exceptional.

They are going to have a really hard time creating a software 'downgrader'.

If they can get a downgrader to run, why not just run homebrew on 2.0.

I've been following this for a while and 99% of the claims are just total noob wannabees who want some fame, release a crappy video and disappear into the void.

Not sure how true this is:

There's actually two new things (polar opposites, really) that have transpired:

1) A new EBOOT.PBP that fixed the "shutdown after security clearance" problem, but still hasn't implemented the routing code that would trick the PSP from being in Update mode to Game mode (this is possible, but very tricky)

2) Yoshihiro actually released a new beta version of his downgrader that gets all the way to the Version 1.5 update screen and DOESN'T FREEZE; now it just says "you're already up-to-date" If, and this is a BIG IF, people figure out how to trick the PSP into running the update anyway, we could have a workable downgrader.

Its quite simple. If they are able to hack the code to downgrade than we won't need to as we could run homebrew from 2.00. Do you think sony left it as easy as swappinmg a few files on memory sticks. No one has achieved anything because no afaik has broken their code.

Just have absolutely no hope for ever downgrading and if their is one then its something to get happy about .The psp "scene" seens to be infested with 10 yr old americans who never get tired of BS'ing about downgraders or hacks. Take anything psp homebrew related to be BS until proven otherwise, and in most cases its BS. Its scary how far some of these americans go to, someone on pspupdates made up a friend he was working with on a psp shell program and then released a beta rar file which no one had the password to open. Teamxecuter were supposedly sued by Sony for hosting illegal files recently so if thats true I wouldnt have much hope for anything being released by them.

anyway another day, another set of rumors.

This time the hot topic of the day is a dashboard by a group called FreezePSP.
This supposedly will work on 1.51+ firmwares. Not sure what exactly it does, but from what I gather it will flash your firmware via a usb connection (so its pc software).

SHould be released in the next few minutes. See who has the balls to try it......

There is absolutely NO way to downgrade the PSP firmware via software. It is impossible. Remember that the next time some 12yr old shouts "downgrader here!". The only hope for homebrew for 1.5x and 2.0 users is a modchip or the possible buffer overflow which people are looking into atm (not looking too great atm).

There is one sure fire way for it though. Sell your 1.52 and get a 1.50 from ebay. That is, if you really need it. It has its downsides too though, some movies cannot be played on 1.50s even with UMD emulator's by-passes. Here's hoping this can be solved soon.

I've already seen that declared a fake. It was on mininova yesterday. Haven't tried it myself though (being on 1.5 and all ). Does it actually say somewhere that it works for 1.5x/2.0??

divx on the psp would be fantastic. I got my 1 meg memory card last night, and converted an ep. of Bleach anime, took 1 hour on a p4 1.8ghz machine, and only shaved off about 60 meg of the original file size. Rather stuff that hassle and copy divxs directly onto the psp.

he 1st solution with wich we did the vid is simple but stuck the 3rd verification crying.gif .I send U the Eboots directly & will told you how method 2 works.

So, you need 2 MS & don't forget to prepare them with the directories that comes in the RAR file. All on "MemoryStick1" goes to MS1, All on "MemoryStick2" goes to MS2
here comes the method to brake the 2nd lock of "updater" you gotta run the 1st Eboot on ur PSP 1.51, 1.52 or 2.0 You'll see a blank screen & as the screen turn to black press 3 times "power" the PSP turns to "hibernation mode". take ur time & switch 1st MS by MS2.
When everything is ready press power to turn off "hibernation mode" the PSP load update correctly & says "update 1.50 ready to run" as if it was launch from firmware 1.00
There, it's stucked & it's the last check ther is on update. we did well after but rest of the job is secret


For method 2 it's a MD5 that is in eboot.pbp of update so if U modify any byte of updater it'll be launched but under the psp updater you'll see a nice alert saying "your update is corrupt & couldn't be launched" this MD5 is so big & "flashy" nobody talks bout' it.

it is located at last line of eboot under "psar" it's for that the updater check that no modification were made to eboot.

this MD5 isn't in UMD games updater, that's the trick.
the answer is Sony knows very well that U can't copy UMDs so they didn't add a security to check if psar has been modified.

I didn't find out how to calculate this MD5 & find what it corresponds to. but it's the answer !

last thing for the "UMD executable updaters" as 2.0, they are all the same as the one that can be launched from MS but they are signed differently with a special UMD flag so for the PSP it's impossible to launch it from MS.
Why did I decide to told U how it works ??

i've tested this on my v2.0, my psp is not bricked, it goes to the v1.50 update start screen, but when you start it a message comes up says 'there is no need to update', but it is promising, a little.

What i did find, was a product which uses PSPvideo9 and bittorent to encode "ondafly" as you download, and store them direct to your PSP.

the first downgrader by team wab turned out to be nothing. It was never working nor had any chance of working. They have been widely discredited and come under attack for taking paypal donations and making fake videos.

The second one FreezePSP - no one know yet if its for real or works. There has seemingly been a comedy of errors trying to get it released (problems uploading it to a server). In theory though it is not a downgrader - instead it installs a "custom" firmware via usb.

To be honest - sounds too good to be true, in other words bullcrap.

This message is about some rumours involved the money of donations. Wab managed their donations and was his responsability. We (psp-dev) recieved from july only 17,72 euros (Thx to Steve P., Stefano S., Francisco Javier E. S. and Rafael R. C.). We want to clarify how the teams works.

Any time we speak about the date of release or if the downgrader was finished, we tried to clarify this situation because it was only a project and can be cancelled at any time. The videos tried to show the progress done at that moment and we never showed a full downgrade.

PsP-Dev never works for money, we could make a lot of money and we refused it to keep our work free.

Thx to all supporters that belive in us.

We want to announce that the colaboration between the two groups has been completly finished without success. We also want to announce that WAB has been disolved. The relatioship between the two groups were vanishing days ago (some of our members were banned from their server) and there is no progress with the colaboration.

In addition, the downgrader project (never finished) is immediatelly cancelled (it is not an excuse, we can't explain our reasons, but are enough to do this).

We have seen a lot of expectation after watching the video "downgrader_v09_hiresa.avi", and we have to say this video is a fake, never done by a WAB or a PSP-Dev Team member (****ing reggaeton, we won't never use that kind of crap). There are a lot of evidences to know that it's a fake (the backpic cut from our official videos, the color of the PSP Update v1.5 is different from the bios color because is a image, short time to flash, the error from the tetris game and the video say itself is a FAKE...).

Obviusly it wasn't stolen from anyone of us, like we read in some webs.

On a brighter note, a buffer overflow exploit in libtiff on 2.0 firmware is found and shown to be working (pspupdates front page). Work seems to be progressing at a good pace and hopefully will lead to homebrew on 2.0

I barely know Alontrio (as he never came to the wab channel before) and I never had anything personal against him, but I rely on facts:

- While Yoshihiro did almost 99.9% of the WAB work, Alonetrio was doing....nothing. All he was doing was enjoying the increasing ammount of visitors on wab.com where he and only he, did have the access to change or upload stuffs on it. Yoshihiro couldn't access any of the wab.com pages.
In order to make money he created a nice paypal account where he got 100% of the payments from it (while doing nothing). When someone asked him to remove the paypal cause yoshihiro got not a single cent for it he answered that he didn't care, he was jobless and wanted to keep all the paypal money for himself (I have seen the logs but didn't keep it, I regret it now)

- Then the downgrader story came up, Yoshi had a first downgrader version that didn't work on 2.0 so he thought it was wise to warn everyone (especially europeans) not to upgrade their PsPs as a downgrader was in the work. Of course Alonetrio thought it might be a good idea to leave his paypal on the website in order to get money that yoshihiro needed to get a european psp, yoshi had to create its own paypal account cause he got no cent from the one on wab.com and he posted it on pspupdates. Once yoshi collected the money he needed to buy a EU psp he didn't accept any gift from the paypal ! he even restricted people to send him money in his paypal settings and that was on august 31st ! But of course Alonetrio paypal remained on the website and he was still collecting money from a work he wasn't invovled in.

-Then Alonetrio thought it was a good idea to put adds on his website (wab.com) in order to get more money, of course yoshi and I were against that and even thought of getting rid of the wab.com affiliation

- Alonetro started to post crap news about his arrest or a fake downgrader video, why ? Probably because he wanted worried people to get on his website and clic on his adds or donate with paypal !

-Of course in the meantime people were flamming on yoshihiro because of alonetrio's crap while he didn't have to manage those.

-In the ALL WAB history alonetrio coded nothing but tech demos and a crappy and buggy first version of a wab launcher that almost boot no game (and that yoshihiro improved a lot on later versions) while yoshihiro was working on the hacks, I think yoshihiro codes WAY better than Alonetrio.

-Then suddenty for an unknown reason (maybe because he thought the downgrader was never gonna be finished and wanted to disculpt himelf fo any responsabilities regarding this matter) he just left out of sight (well he never came to the wab channel anyway) and shutdown wab.com website (it lasted 3 days)

-Then Alonetrio started harrassing yoshihiro by calling him on his phone at 1:30 AM

-Then as you migh understand, Yoshihiro and I were fed up of Alonetrio and we left WAB to create our own team called SonyXteaM and continue the previous wab projects as well as new ones.

-Then Alonetrio created his crappy post on wab.com

Here is a question for Alonetrio :

Exept of coding demos, a crappy unworking game launcher and enjoying money from paypal and adds from the website, what the hell did you do for wab ??

I can answer that question, it sums up to one word: Nothing.
