Windows bootable install CD's (Solved)

I copied over Windows 98SE to my hd and added some new files (msbatch.inf, patches folder etc). I burned the data to a new cd using nero and made it bootable but I am not getting the desired result. The original disk gives you the option to boot off the HD or CD and if you choose CD, you get to install windows. How do I get this working on the new disk?

I have tried using a 98 boot disk with nero, the cd boots but I am unable to run set up as it says it requires Microsoft Windows.

    Thanks

Are you sure the original CD you used was a windows 98 CD and not a "restore" CD or the like?
Windows 98 CD's generally need you to create boot disks to allow you to run the CD-ie the CD is not bootable by default.
There are some instructions here but it requires you to make an ISO.
    Hope it helps.

    Kippy,

    Thanks for quick reply.

I tried that one, CD boots like a floppy and then when I type setup I get the requires microsoft windows message.
6 - Once it's finished, restart your PC with the CD in your drive and your custom boot CD will load, leaving you at the DOS prompt.

    Setup wont run from here.

The Cd I copied over boots ok. I get the following options when it boots
    1. Boot from Hard Disk
    2. Boot From CD

I select 2 and it starts the installation.

Back to my original question-is your original CD a Window 98 Restore CD or a standard copy.....the reason I am asking is that a Standard 98 CD will not boot from CD without a floppy....perhaps the issue with building the boot CD is that the original is not a standard 98 CD

Disc is Microsoft Windows 98SE, an original disc.

I made a copy of this disc as a backup sometime ago and it works just like to original, no problems at all.

Got it sorted. Thanks for the help. In the end I used a program called MagicISO.

Cheers for the feedback-obviously an issue with Nero creating the ISO
