Fours A Fortune Limited - Convicted

Fours A Fortune Limited was convicted and fined for his latest scam. However, I wonder if anybody received one of the messages that was sent? I thought that RTE badly reported the case and the guy was let off very lightly.

The RTE reported that he had violated privacy by spamming numbers at random with a message. Technically speaking this is an offence but hardly the worst thing in the world. He suggested that it was all a misunderstanding or technical hitch.

However, my understanding is that this was not just a spamming case but a 'ringback' scam where the person was conned into ringing back the missed call. A very deliberate action designed to earn him revenue on a premium line. This is entirely different to a little misunderstanding over sending a bulk text message out. Anybody know any more?

All I know is what i saw on the news. However, I do think that the deliberate conning of people into ringing a premium rate phone line is pretty nasty. His fine should have been far larger. I think that something like E1000 per spam/false message is perfectly fair

There were 5 cases of people who had reported the scam. He got fined €300 per message. It's a pity when the firts Irish astronaut goes into space that he doesn't take his scams with him.
