As far as I can make out, it's more of a problem with the Army Reserve. Most of them are in Iraq.

quite correct there nesf. But the other fact that aid took such long is because the majority of new orleans is black.

Thats what annoys me, they will be 1/4 faster in sending troops to eastern europe to kill iraqis but when it comes to home, its put on the long finger.

Reading throught that, about surrounded police, rapings, beatings, armed gangs purposely attacking buildings and people, the military should execute those ****ers on the spot, let alone shoot looters on sight...

.....what kind of a damn world do we live in, you have to wonder sometimes. Its disgusting. I hope to god I never have to experience something anything like it. Its much more eye opening to read eye witness accounts and watch live feeds then watching the heavily censored news.

Police feed is very interesting....sounds bad from some of the stuff patching through from various units

I had put that down to the junkies who haven't been able to get a fix for a few days. Maybe I was wrong.

Of all the stuff i've heard about it though, this is the one thing that shocked me.

At least two people, including a child, have been raped.

I just find it hard to fathom how anyone in that situation could consider doing something like that. It makes me sad.

just goes to show what were not being told by the media, im sure they know whats going on right now, but it will probably be shown months from now on prime time or panorama.

And i seriously cant believe that a child got raped, how could anyone consider that at all, there must be a child sex offender loose aswell.

the radio chatter there is weird.. the one I've been listening to for a while now is very quiet and when they do speak, nobody seems to know where anyone is or where theyre going. Just now "two guys turned up at a mall", identified themselves as captain something or other and major whatever and want to know where theyre going.

Regarding the sex offenders/assorted sicko's, in a city the size of New Orleans, it'd amaze me if there weren't dozens and dozens of sex offenders on the streets.These feckin radio transmissions are surreal though

In fairness, peadophiles (sp?) as a rule are sick people so they probably see this as an opportunity rather than saying "**** this is a really bad disaster, we need to band together and help each other".

AFAIK that story has already been confirmed as untrue (http://www.rte.ie/news/2005/0901/57live.html) although there are corroborated stories of rapes.
