1993 Nissan Micra w/only one set of keys (which are now lost) and a swivelok on the steering wheel. What is the cheapest way to resolve the problem?

Thanks a million for any input.

You could pay a visit to a scrap yard and find a similar model Micra, get the ignition barrel and all locks (including boot), etc and have them fitted into your Micra. Don't know how feasable this is if your car has an engine immobiliser fitted.

Otherwise you could go a Nissan dealer and get them to make up a new key. They will probably have to trace it back to the factory via the chassey number.

Don't know which of these is the cheapest, might be worth exploring both options before deciding.

Still will need to get key for door if you change the barrel...means you will have 2 keys...one to start and one to open door

Get key cut is best....ring closest Nissan garage and they will help you out.....used to have a Nissan and went to a few garages around the country and they where always great and did the best they could...where about you located? mite be able to recommend one!!

That's what I meant, the ignition barrell and all door locks including boot from the same car in a scrap yard. That way you only use one key. Of course if the car has an immobiliser then this option is probably redundent.

I would get a price from a Nissan dealer first before going to a scrap yard.
