Oh no, I don't keep them as pets, they're wild. I guess they must fight a lot, or something. Every so often I throw them a little gravel, or the odd tile, especially when food is scarce, but they're not my pets.

They're living on your property, they're your responsibility.

    /me picks up the phone

    Hello, ISPCB?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 656 ✭✭✭supersheep

They're wild bricks! They certainly aren't my responsibility. In fact, I'm probably not even supposed to throw them food, but I do 'cos I wouldn't like to see them starve.

Sarky please don't humiliate him in front of the bricks,
it makes baby jesus eat worms..

...SuperSheepDude can i have the keys to your bricks for the night..
    i swear i'll keep them safe ¬_¬

Keys? Bricks don't have keys. And, like I said, they're wild. But you're free to try catch them, as long as that's not against the law or you have a licence or whatever...

i NEED A LICENSE FOR A BRICK NOW? THIS IS GETTING RUCKING DERICKULOUS!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,314 ✭✭✭Talliesin

You need a license to catch and tame wild ones, and a different license to hunt them.

You don't need a license to keep them, but you do have to keep them in suitable conditions making sure that they are fed, watered, have at least some space for running around.

Unless you have lots of space it may be necessary to get them spayed.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 656 ✭✭✭supersheep

Yeah, like Talliesin said. I don't have a licence to catch them, so I can't do anything with them - they're wild as hell. I think they may have been abandoned at some point, I'm pretty sure there's some feral bricks there. Disgraceful stuff. Obviously they weren't spayed either... They've grown into a huge colony now...

Be careful, supersheep. Sounds like you could have the beginning of a sprawl there. Befor you know it, there'll be a McDonalds.

I know - there's crazy amounts of them. I'd say I could build a fairly nice shed with them. But that's the joy of wild colonies. If they get too problematic, and anyone here has a licence, I'm sure we can work something out. As long as they go to good homes. They're not my pets, but I feel kinda responsible for them.

I move that this month be established as National Month of Pet Bricks, in honour of Amz's Brick, and pet bricks and their owners everywhere. If a few people are in favour, then I will put it to a vote of TCN peeps. And their cats.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,314 ✭✭✭Talliesin

We need a month to plan for it at least. Make November pet brick month.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,314 ✭✭✭Talliesin

    That would so rock!

(I wonder if Amz has even looked at this thread since I moved it from Feedback).

I think we should all send her millions of pms about her brick.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,314 ✭✭✭Talliesin

Yes. I'm sure she would like that. It would show that we cared about the two of them.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 31,967 ✭✭✭✭Sarky

    Well, the brick at least.

    Let's make a draft:

    Dear Amz,

Further pertaining to the special edition of this weeks update from Camp Abu X-ray Graib, now with brick, we, the undersigned, petition you to update us on the whereabouts and condition of said brick in present moment vis-a-vis ergo QED: please recommence posting upon the former previously aforementioned thread in relation to the brick.

Amz is the bricks primary, nay sole, caregiver. To think of what could happen to Brickie McBrick without Amz it, it's just, it... *shudder* :(

Yes, bring back Amz and her brick. And November is better, it does give us time to plan. Any suggestions for what we should do? Beside a parade...

    The Noble Brick

What a beautiful thing is a brick!
Rosy red with newness or pale pink with age, a brick is one of the finest things ever devised by man.
Hold a brick in your hand a moment; feel its sturdy weight, hard yet with a surface softness. And if it is an old brick, dusted with a delicate bloom, like the cheeks of an elderly person grown gentle and wise with age.
A brick is truly elemental. Out if the earth itself it comes, to be molded and then baked in the fire. Joined by mortar to its brothers, it serves man in old and infinate ways, building his walls, his fences, his schools, his churches, his houses and the patios he is inspired to lay in his backyard.
The life of a brick is long. It endures sometimes for centuries. And often when its time of service is finished in one direction and walls come tumbling down, the brick is rescued, carted away by truck to have the dried ligaments of mortar beaten away, its surface cleaned, and given new existence in the form of new churches and walls and homes.
A brick has a homely humour. A brick chuckles as it tumbles with its kind into your vacant lot. As if the bricks were laughing at the spectacle of the human family forever about its business of building and tearing down. Yet, in a kindly way, making sturdy music in the morning of man's vision of the house or the wall or the patio he is fashioning.
A brick has character. A brick has beauty and quality and grace. That's why we say of a person with such attributes, "he's a brick". To be a brick is to be a noble thing.

It looks so comfy there. I wonder does she let it sleep in her hair a lot?

And look at the shine off it! Now there is a well-cared for brick. Truly a joy to see.
