If I move from Eircom to BT, does anyone know what happens to the "free" webpage I have under eircom.net. It's the Http://homepage.eircom.net/~********, I have asked Eircom and they "Are'nt sure", BT said they don't know as it is not their site.
Has anyone any experience of this?
If I no longer have an Eircom account will they let the website there or will they delete it?
Any Ideas.......?

They might leave it there but you wont be able to access it without an Eircom account i would imagine?

3 months ago i got broadband (Not from Eircom). i previously had a subscription account with them i rang there accounts department and reverted to a free account. it is still working the email address and the website. the only problem which you will have is if you want to update your eircom website, you must dail up with 1892150150 the username and password is blank.

your page will remain. However to access the upload page you have to be dialled up via 1892150150 as it only allows access via Eircom-originating ip no's...........that's how "free" isn't free at all.

Not the end of the world though...

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

Maybe this is a good excuse to finally get your own domain?

weel, there's any amount of free webspace hosts out there so getting some space wont be a big deal. I think the main thing is changing your websites address though, if thats what you're worried about. seeing as you wont be able to access it when u move providers, jsut setup the main page of your eircom site to forward it to your new websites address (try yahoo, lycos, cjb.net etc, theres loads of freebies out there). that way people won't lose the website cause you moved the address of the page...
