    1.4 16v 99 Astra 73K miles

    35 mpg.

    4.4l's per gallon.

    200 miles out of 25litres = 8litres per miles

    4.4*8=35.2 mpg

Mainly motorway driving at the mo.

    '97 BMW 523i (2.5L) - 75K miles (today :D )
I don't count as I do a lot of urban mileage and I don't want to face reality!

On motorway runs I can get 40-50mpg!

'96 BMW 735iA V8 petrol. 21mpg (95% urban) average over the last nearly 2 years. Can easily get 30mpg+ on country driving including overtaking :)

No. 35mpg on mainly motorways with a fairly modern 1.4 petrol engine is crap. Have you switched aircon to ice-cold, have a window open, non standard spoilers or something like that?

    00' Renault Megane 1.4
About 40mpg with about 60% of my driving being city driving

Thats amazing. I thought I was bad.

BMW M3 - 15 MPG combined approx but it absolutely drinks fuel. You can almost see the gauge dropping in real time.

But on long runs I can achieve 26 mpg. You sure that open road/motorway figure is correct? A 2 litre should be able to achieve far more unless its very old or somethings wrong with it.

Both, I think. It's 1972 and I think it's leaking tiny amounts of fuel but I havent been able to find out where in 2 years.

Are you still with the Watch? ;)

According to the trip computer I get 46 mpg average from a 1.6 Petrol Laguna II. 90% of my driving is open road (mixture of country roads, motorways, N roads) with the remainder urban.

I only reset the computer a couple of times of year so I could easily have 10,000 miles between resets. This means that when I say I get 46 mpg it's an average over quite a large distance.

From some experimenting I can say that the car does around 48-50 mpg at a steady 50 mph, around 44-45 at steady 62 mph. Not sure about constant 75 mph or urban but economy seems to a good bit worse - probably <40 mpg

My spreadsheet tells me that I've averaged 34mpg over the last 12 months. (1.4l '99 Almera, probably half the driving-miles are 120km/h-ish on the off-peak M50, half the driving-time is short urban journeys.) On a fill that includes a trip down the country, I'll get 40mpg.

Would you tell us what you paid for it? The large Peugeots (604, 605) used to be the biggest depreciators of all cars, so it might be a very interesting proposition to buy second hand as a 3-4 year old

I remember the 604 wrote off 90% of its value over 4 years :D

    Odemeter's broken so have'nt a clue!

20 litres when it was 1 euro a litre was good enough for 2 weeks which seemed reasonable. :)

Your sigs out of date now.

I don't drive, so on 500ml of water I can do a 10 mile run, so it's not too shabby
