Just got a dvd player and there is an annoying hum when playing dvds.Nothing else wrong with it but I find it annoying. I dont know if this is an issue with this model or not. Whats the chance of me getting a refund or exchange?

If you got it in Argos you're sorted anyway.

If you got it somewhere ele you'll have to complain that the hum drowns out the quiet passages in your favourite dvds and that its very distracting at night in an otherwise quietened room. They'll plug it in in the shop but remind them that the shop is considerably louder than your living room and that you play your dvds at a low volume so as not to wake the baby...

The attitude you take should be conciliatory and let them feel they're helping you etc etc

Where is the hum coming from? Is it the sound of the machine working or a hum on the audio coming through your TV speakers or other speakers?

If you have your receipt and are willing to exchange for onother of the same machine or another machine most retailers will have no problem and will take you on your word especially as DVD players are relatively cheap items and they'll just send it back to the manufacturer for refund themselves.

unless there is an actual fault with the product (and by the sounds of it there isn't, no pun intended). my sony dvd player hums, but when as soon as I connected it up to the surround sound, I don't really hear it.Argos only take stuff back under the 16 day money back guarantee if its in its UNUSED condition.

believe me the things I see being brought back in Argos in their "unused" condition-Hair straghteners and hair trimmers with hair and stubble in them, pots and pans with stains, hoovers with dust and dirt in them. In the UK a store took back in a phone that was "unused" and it had pornographic pics on it, and it was then sold on-therefore breaking I don't know how many laws, so we've to check everything thoroughly before allowing anything to be returned under the 16 day money back guarantee. why dont you try selling it on ebay or in the buy and sell
