    Hello,
I started a thread here a few weeks ago and ppl recommended that I get a psychologist. I live in Galway and am wondering how I would go about getting one of these. I also have very little money. How much do they cost?

Go to your Dr or gp and talk to him/her about it.

Then go find one. Where would you go if you were feeling sick?

Don't worry about it, the psy*.* isn't going to eat you.

Going to the GP is a filtering process, it might put you in touch with someone a lot more useful to you than someone on the internet can do for you.

If you're in the college, you can avail of their psychological services for free. I'm pretty sure (and I just mean a guy with personal experience told me) that your GP wlil recommend a psychologist - talking to a GP shouldn't be any different to talking to a psychologist.

As far as I know, if she could pass you onto the hospital psych ward you can avail of their psychologists for free. This probably means waiting lists etc

basically if youi want it for free, and are not in the student situation, you need your doctor to refer you to the local health board services, where you will see some one and decide where to go from there, a psychologit, therapist etc

its scary because t spersonal, and there's this stigma somethign is wrong with you.

but thats the fact! if your leg hurt you'd want it fixed so you could walk, run, play sport etc, or simply not be in pain. Same thing with your mind, sometimes it needs a little attention.

Theapist and/or a psychologist will only be a POSITIVE experience so yu should try sort it soon, its a chance to think out loud, and some times even if we spend all day thinking we miss some obvious thing that a new person can see and it makes all the difference.

I don't know the contnent of your other thread, but 100% no hesiation in saying go to your gp, you don't even have to tell him/her why, they are used to people knowing they need a little help here, he won't push it

    best of luck
