My pc kept burning up and freezing last lan. I had to leave sat morning it was so annoying...I had fans up the arse, I think from reading something, it may hav been having "fastwrite" turned on, on my gfx.
It never freezes @home but its so god damned HOT at the lans.

If I sign up+go and the same thing happens and I leave pure early, any chance of a refund, r will that depend on if the lan isn`t booked out ??

If you sign-up to a lan and don't take your name off the list before the cut-off date (20th October for this lan) then you are liable for the full fee.
If your machine is cutting out, sort the problem.
Turn off fast-writes, buy a syringe of Arctic Silver 5 and follow the myriad of instructions online to re-apply thermal paste (also known as TIM or goop) to your heatsinks.
Maybe just sitting down and examining the airflow conditions of your case and the arrangement (and direction) of fans might help you.
No point having 20 fans if they're all working against each other.

Its all been done. Shortly after getting my p4 3.0 i changed the intel heatsink for an artic one because my pc would start at 48*. That made no difference.

I have two xtractor fans at the back and two intakes on the front, along with two fans in the psu. Its a quicktech 550w, it is **** but it shouldn`t affect temp?

At the last lan while playin bf2+uto4 it was tellin me the temp was 68* !!
A friend told me he was reading about my mobo and there is some issue with the bios and the temp reading and a bios update is out. I`ll try that next because it could b giving me a faulty reading.

When my comp did freeze I`m almost sure it was because of gfx overheating. I`m upgrading it to a gforce6800 LE this week.

Why can`t it stand the heat?? I`m stumped.

If the bios update and new card have no effect as a last resort i`ll buy a case designed for cooling. If that fails and I don`t flip out, I`l bin the b%*terd and start from scratch.

Anyway I prob won`t make the lan :(

never take your pc for granted if it works properly

If you're binning it, offer it here first. Someone may be able to make some use of it.

it could well be the psu. We had a similar problem with machines in NEthouse in dublin. The psu's were causing the machines to freeze mid game then reboot, sometimes they wouldn't even get to reboot. We swapped out the PSU's for much better ones and also changed the cpu fan.
    All got sorted.

Make sure its not something silly like 8x AGP enabled or wrong settings.
Bios upgrade should resolve the temp issues if its a know problem otherwise you may wanna take a look around some tech sites for better ways to avoid it heating up.
