Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

IMO Fletcher is a decent 1st division player but in the premieirship looks weak.
Its like they could do with someone better! but lacking the quality

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,251 ✭✭✭✭Lemlin

Both defences will cancel each other out. I'd go for nil all. If someone does win, I think it will be 1-0 and the goal will come from a midfielder, probably for United. That's all I'm saying!

If this is correct I'm going for a win to Utd, a remarkable recovery by any means

Yeh the Sun had that story aswell:

    http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2002390000-2005430312,,00.html

Don't know tbh, maybe maybe not.
The advantage this game is all the local heroes will raise their games.
I expect Gerrard and Carragher to play a stormer, unless Keane is playing in which case not so much Gerrard.
Inturn though for United, I expect O'Shea, Scholes, Giggs(if he plays), Fletcher, and of course the Evertonian who plays for United :P

thats some recovery, even if he only makes the sub's bench.

And that matters how, was it a different Liverpool playing in the CL, or a different Utd?

err then scored one conceded none somehow sounds better than scored 14 conceded 6?

Sounds like STEVIE G is well up for this...

"We have won the Champions League but at home people only ever speak about the top three teams...and I am sick of hearing all that," Gerrard said.

KEANO STARTS!!!Come on United, in those famous words, "Let's be 'avin you."

    My formation guess for Liverpool

    Reina
    Finnan, Carra, Hyppia, Warnock
    Pongolle, Gerrard, Alonso, Riise
    Garcia
    Crouch,

Subs carson, cisse, josemi, traore, josemi, sissoko

Duno about Utd as Keane is playing!!!
    Van der Sar
    O'Shea, Rio, Silvestre, Richardson
    Smith, Scholes, Keane, Ronaldo
    Rooney
    V Nistelrooy

Subs howard, giggs, park, fletcher, bardsley

Thats a big risk I'd have put Sissoko on just to kick Keane and then sub him for Alonso!

    Mike.

    VDS
    Sheasy
    Rio
    Micky
    Rich

    Smithy
    Keano
    Scholsey

    Ronaldo
    Rooney

    Ruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuud

Sky have pongolle and crouch up front.

Now this is an weird thing but Liverpool have just won the CL and the biggest game of next season when you assume they strenghten and buying top quality players. They have Crouch and Songolle up front when others are fit!!!

Seriously whats wrong with that ?

    Come on you red devils.

I'm very surprised Liverpool started Pongelle. Espcially ahead of Cisse. I've never thought that much of Pongelle myself.

Yeah after his loan spell WBA I have more respect for him and for the way he plays.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,251 ✭✭✭✭Lemlin

Ferguson was only saying the other day about how Richardson came back from WBA "a man".

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,677 ✭✭✭Chong

Its true it certainly worked for Beckham when he went on loan to Preston.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 20,346 ✭✭✭✭KdjaCL

Feel sorry for O Shea and Richardson, they have nothing in front of them its like playing fullback when your winger was sent off. Stupid formation forces them infield everytime to liverpools 5 man midfield.

I have to say I just hate John O'Shea full stop, I cant wait for nev to be back.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,117 ✭✭✭✭MrJoeSoap

United being typically mouthy, its fast, its frenetic and its good to watch.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,010 ✭✭✭besty

in fairness though, richardson and oshea are playing well.we need to get the likes of rooney and ronaldo on the ball more and get liverpool on the back foot a bit more. at least there is no danny murphy to rob it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,251 ✭✭✭✭Lemlin

As I said on another thread, O'Shea is a good player. He just needs his confidence to grow. I think he underperformed last year because everyone was talking about Heinze being bought to replace him.

Despite that, he still started about 34 games last season and Sir Alex gave him a 4 year contract in the Summer so he's obviously respected around Old Trafford.

And I'm in work and can't watch it :( Going to miss the Blackburn game too. That's the bad side of being in college and having to work weekends.

I suppose at least I can get an idea what's happening on Soccernet's Gamecast.

What an utterly sh*te game. People complain that the eL is poor because of the hoofing, well, would someone like to explain whats happening at Anfield at the moment, because I certainly cant see any football being played.

Probably Richards Keyes' fault - he said before the game there hasnt been a 0-0 in this fixture since the beginning of the premiership. Tempting fate or what?

Its called a long pass in the PL, its tactical....

Warnock and Pongolle gonna cost pool a goal, they the weak links wouldnt be surprised to see Ronaldo stick to warnock in 2nd half, everytime warnocks gets pushed he makes a mistake.

Scholes needs to push on more for Utd, pool well they have Crouch up front so thats there gameplan in a nutshell.

    pongolle???
    hes been our best player.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,386 ✭✭✭d22ontour

Liverpool the new wimbledon when crouch plays.Pretty even 1st half with both teams cancelling each other out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,251 ✭✭✭✭Lemlin

And Benitez said that tactics to suit Crouch (ie. hoofing the ball!) would only be used in away games. He must be running scared of United.

Hope it stays 0-0. I have Ferdinand and Carragher in defence in my fantasy team.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

I'm only listening to it, but it sounds like the two midfields are cancelling each other out. If Rafa sticks with 4-4-1-1 then he'll have to instruct Luis Garcia to get a move on and offer Crouch proper support.

    Mike.

Going forward yes but hes lucky Finnan is behind him as going backwards hes the weak link.

I'd imagine Benitez would be happy enough with 0-0.

It's gona be 1 - 0. One goal will seal this, and you can just get the feeling it's coming. Whoever scores it is another issue. This game could be anybodies.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

Crouch off????????? Thats nuts, Garcia should be gone.

    Mike.

Go to www.soccernet.com and click on Gamecast on the mainpage.

I think its going to be 0-0. I said that before the game and it still looks that way. Suits me anyway.

At times it was pacey and threatened to open up, but overall pretty poor and I imagine frustrating for both sets of fans.

    Awful, Awful game.

Roy Keane played very well in the deep role.

Apart from that I dont think there was a save for any keeper.

    Awful stuff.
