Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Your f***ing joking right?

I'm due october the 5th for my test. I've already had to change my license plate because it didn't have the IRL bit on it.

I'm kinda worried about my rear plate. It's square like a jap one however it's on the right of my bumper.

And stick the marker where the sun don't shine? I like your thinking

    That sucks man, it's a free re-test isn't it once that's sorted?

And how the **** does that decide a car isn't roadworthy?

Yeah, who ever heard of a county called Raile Atha Oliath? That'll teach you to waste your money getting cars NCT'd. How clean or safe will an NCT make your car?

They should change their slogan from 'Cleaner, safer motoring' to 'Crankier, poorer motorists'

    'c

Yep, you've said it all along, 'c, and you were right of course. Unfortunately for me, I need to sell my car on in a bit to someone else, who will not buy it from me without a valid NCT...

 Could there possibly be any kind of clause that would prevent the insurance company from paying out in case the car did not have a valid NCT cert?

I'm with hibernian and when I took out the policy they wanted the nct cert. I assume if you claim they can say that without an nct your car want raodworthy and refuse to pay.

And then if would be tough luck on the claimant. IF the driver can't pay its off to the motor insureres bureau of Ireland .

If you dont have an NCT Cert you cant Tax your car. Without a Tax Disc you cant insure it and you will have a hell of a time getting an insurance payment out of them even if you do have a disc before Insurance and you let it lapse.

You don't need an NCT to tax a car. You need insurance to tax a car or at least quote the policy number.

Correct. One did need an NCT to tax a car originally, but there was a big strike at the NCT and people were getting caught out (I was one of them). Ever since it is no longer required
