...most customers don't have a clue as to what goes into applying a tattoo nor do they really make smart decisions on what they want. that's when a good tattooist will sit and talk to you about it before doing the tattoo. If they take pride in what they do and it's a bad idea you have they will flat out tell you and help you to make a smarter decison.

one thing though is that the customer should take a look at the tattooists' portfolio and sketches/drawings/flash. you can determine if that artist is the one for you and what you want done. in other words you will get a tattooist who is an all around great artist who does 'everything' then that is excellent!

on the other hand, you can also get artists who do what they specailize in such as portraits, tribal or old school. make sure they are open to do something they normally DON'T do. from reading everyone's posts about certain tattooists it's clear to me that you all have who you prefer but to slander one artist for this reason or another is not such a cool thing. most important is if one artist isn't as strong as another in the same shop you shouldn't write off the shop as a whole. all artists work at their own pace and specialise in what they do best...if you have any common sense and know what to look for you will be able to recognize this...you should be able to see the ambition and dedication that that tattooist has towards thier job.

I know what i am capable of doing in this crazy tattoo biz and there isn't much i won't do. i thank those of you who have come to me for work and have posted praise for what i've done for you. having been inspired a great deal lately, my work has reached even higher level's. for those of you slandering me, it's okay, really. i'm not a rockstar tattooist and like to hear both sides of the story but you should be carefull what you say anyway.there are alot of really great tattooists here in dublin, all of whom i know. in the end find your tattooist and stick with them but don't slander. i believe in the karma thing... speak about people the way you want to be spoken about. so, love and light to all of you customers out there. good luck...
i'll be off soon for a guest spot in germany.

This is my reply to the other thread, Debby and I stand by it.

To be fair guys Debbies art is stunning, no WAY I would diss the beauty of the work she can turn out. All artists have their off days, my experience caught one of them, and not really artistically, only a few shakey lines and one fading line in one part that stop it being P E R F E C T ( letters spaced out for dramatic effect :P), my gripe is small really.

Wally does a mean Celtic, very few "artists" in Ireland better at Celtic.
I was going to get some work done by Mark at one point, changed my mind but only because I found somewhere else.
Mick apparently does the best Celtic in Dublin anyway, therefore possibly the best in the country, although he is now in Stigmata Tau in Swords.

That's the artists I know from that list and I wouldn't diss any of their artistic ability. My only gripe was something that happened and meant I wouldn't give Deb my money again but I almost regret now relating my personal experience as I dont feel that this thread is giving credit where it is due.
It's a clique thing to a great extent and tis a very very bitchy scene anywhere in the world, I think it's all the testosterone and egos.

    Best of luck in Germany.
