Threads displaying in Hybrid mode?

In my user settings, I have set threads to display in a flat linear mode with newest post at the end. But as of today all threads are coming up in Hybrid mode which is like a cross between threaded and flat. This is not a big deal and is probably just a temporary glitch but has anyone else got this problem.
