"Junior Minister Pat The Cope Gallagher is predicting the whole of Donegal will be covered by broadband by the end of next year."
When politicians use the word "cover" with regards to broadband it does not mean more than when eircom's David McRedmond uses the word: It's a cover-up.
Journalists should ask specifically what the junior minister means:
Does he mean that by end of 2006 the population of Donegal will have broadband access? Full 100% population broadband coverage as they have in NI?
If not, what does he mean? 90%, 80%, 70%, 60%...?
The projects under the Group Broadband Scheme are not required to provide full population coverage in the area they are operating.

A spot on Highland radio about the lack of BB in much of Donegal and the effect that has on job creation might focus Pats mind and provide some 'balance' to the coverage .

The Gaeltacht areas are certainly doing better in terms of fibre and dsl and wireless networks than the inglis speaking areas so I would question what Enterprise Ireland is at up there.

Pat gets most of his votes in the Gaeltacht areas and may not worry unduly about south Donegal !
