strange i have had a look around and Claro\Chile doesn't seem to be in any unlocking software.

unlikely to be claro if you read here

    1600 is 900/1800 mhz

if it is locked to claro - at your own risk

    Model: Nokia (1600 )
    IMEI: 011086006924357
    Network: 73003000

There is a 1600 850/1900 made for the Americas also and Claro have it listed on their site.

    @jabberwock
    2 things

    1. Type in *#0000# and see what version the firmware is

    2. Under the battery, read the product code and let me know if its 0533778 or any different to that

yapyap drew my attention to the fact and it seems yours is the 1600b(850/1900) and this cannot be unlocked using codes :(

going to try and get the provider to unlock it tomorrow. fingers crossed.

but at the end of the day does this mean that the phone will defo not work in New Zealand??

edit: if it doesn't work it's a bit odd that they sell the 1600 on Vodafone NZ!?!

    info from *#0000# :
    N1600B V5.03
    04-21-06
    RH-65
    (c) NMP
    Language: UB

this phone wont work in new zealand so better find a victim for it in chile

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 857 ✭✭✭whisht

    Exactly
Also, the *#0000# confirms it is in fact a 1600b and not 1600 so it definitely wont work in New Zealand

  • Registered Users Posts: 928 ✭✭✭jabberwock

    ok so found a victim.
not too bad got a 3120 in exchange for the 1600 with US$20 credit on it.

please don't tell me that this phone will not work in New Zealand aswell!!!

    Hey,

Looking for unlock code for Nokia 5200

    Its locked to Vodaphone (pre-pay)

    IMEI - 352731017365531

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 857 ✭✭✭whisht

    That one should work ok
Type in *#0000# again just to check if its 3120b

Irish type 3120 has 900/1800/1900 frequencies
South American 3120b has 850/1800/1900 frequencies

Vodafone in New Zealand have an 1800 network and both 3120's support 1800 so you should be sorted ;)

This is a BB5 type Nokia phone
It means codes cannot be calculated for them
Only way to unlock is to get code from the network! :(

Hello, wondering if anyone can help. I've gone and hardlocked my Nokia 6230i. Can you give me an indication of how much it would cost and where I can get it un-hardlocked? I'm in Kildare.

    Thanks for any info.
