Is it possible to unlock a Nokia 6300?

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,272 ✭✭✭Deedsie

    Hi,
has anyone tried to unblock an LG Viewty yet? I was thinking of making a purchase but wanted to find out if anyone had seen one used in Ireland? Unblocked? Its either an iphone or a viewty i want. Neither are on sale in Ireland so i presume both have to be unblocked if bought in the UK or US. Any suggestions? Comments? Greatly appreciated

    Cheers Boards

I've a Sony Ericsson W200i still in its original box but its a Meteor prepay.
Does anyone know how to unblock so I can use on a Vodafone network?
I'm fed up looking at 'free' websites that want to charge to unlock! Grrrr.

Would I need to take it to one of the back street shops?
    Tks.

I'm heading to the US next week and I was wondering if I would be able to unlock my pay monthly three mobile phone? I't's just for 3 weeks so I'll be back here using my bill phone. Is it safe to unlock and use another provider for those 3 weeks?

There's a specific code for each phone model. There isn't one "master code" available.

anyone know a decent place in cork city to get get a an SE k800i unlocked. its on the o2 network. that bastards told me they would unlock for free if i bought the phone and req it and now they shafted me. Also anyone know around what price it costs to get them unlocked?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 19,080 ✭✭✭✭Random

Do you have the details of the person that told you? I've always found O2 pretty good at honouring what they say even if they get it wrong sometimes.

how did they shaft you? o2 are usually good for giving out codes

they shafted me by not giving me out the code. The person I got onto after buying the phone when ringing up for the unlock code said they don't give it out. Said u have to spend €150 first. I unfortunately forgot to get the persons name that i talked with. I did seem as though she checked it with a supervisor cuz she went off for a bit to check.

Who told you originally that they would unlock it? The guy who sold it to you in the shop?

  • Registered Users Posts: 21,611 ✭✭✭✭Sam Vimes

go into a shop and ask someone there or keep calling o2 until you get someone who's willing to do it for you. Do you know anyone on o2 who could phone up for you?

I bought the phone online. The who told me originally that they would unlock for free no problem was an O2 customer service agent on the phone. I rang up and was straight with her about what i was going to be doing and not staying with them. I suppose i'll just try again and see. Its to be the nature of call centre that u a different answer of each person u ring. The only problem is i'd didn't ask for the person names as i thought they would stay true to what i was told. I suppose i'll ring up again and ask and try get one of them to give me the code.

Just to update u gusy, I rang them up again today and I got a much more helpful person. She told me that you would still need to top up by €150 but it could be on anyone phone. Like someone in my family or a previous account i had. Which i did. So i gave here that no. and i had the required amt topped up on that a/c so she gave the unlocking code then. Nice one :)

anyone know if it can be done?

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,497 ✭✭✭sioda

Do you still need a cable to unlock a 6131 thinking of buying one here in OZ

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 857 ✭✭✭whisht

A cable alone will not unlock the 6131
    You need specialised unlocking equipment

    No problem at all

    @robdcu
The K800i cannot be unlocked free. The only place you will get codes is from O2 or else it needs to be cable unlocked

  • Registered Users Posts: 166,026 ✭✭✭✭LegacyUser

O2 will want you to have topped up account by €150!
Otherwise bring it to unlocking shop is your only hope
