I have a N95 which was is the O2 network and locked I then debranded it to the latest firmware. I requested the unlocking code off O2 which I got but it's saying invalid code when entered is this because of the generic firmware? Also Do I enter the code on the standby screen...

I've two phones here that need unlocking.

Both nokia and locked to Meteor.

    2626 IMEI: 353942016253607
    1101 IMEI: 355698008377899

i'm pretty sure the 2626 can only be unlocked with hardware

try this for the 1101. only try it once because i'm not sure of it

yeah you should just be able to enter it on the main screen. debranding shouldn't affect the unlocking code. call them and tell them they gave you the wrong code. don't keep trying it because if you put the wrong code in 3 times you can never unlock it with a code

Stick in a voda or meteor sim and try again.

They did confirm my IMEI with me so that's why I thought the code couldn't be correct I'll give them a buzz and get another code sent.

Although this used be the old way to do it and then enter the code you can't now as you get an invalid sim message that won't go away

Sorry how do I get my IMEI number?? Its a Nokia 6300 locked to vodafone:confused:

  • Registered Users Posts: 198 ✭✭Jaybee

    Found it!

Can you please unlock a Nokia 6300 locked to Vodafone

    IMEI 352042020732307

    Thanks!:)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 857 ✭✭✭whisht

6300 is a BB5 Nokia. Not possible to calculate codes for them
If you are on bill, your network should supply it
If on Pay as you go, most networks require €130 spend on the account first!
Otherwise, you can get it hardware unlocked or use the new Nokia BB5 Turbosim

Oh no  Is there ANY other way round it at all without paying 40eur?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turbo_SIM

What what I can see it does not unlock the phone at all. It just tricks the phone into thinking it has the correct sim inserted.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 857 ✭✭✭whisht

Exactly! Which also means its "unlocked"
The advantage of this method is you can use it on other Nokia phones should you trade up etc, but the disadvantage is, as you said, the phone is never actually unlocked. Once you remove the Turbosim from the phone, then its a "locked" phone again.

If I change to the vodafone network, the phone should work? Then could I change back to meteor and it would stillwork - am I right ?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 857 ✭✭✭whisht

I dont understand what you are asking?
If its locked to Vodafone, it will work only with Vodafone sim cards
If you put a Meteor sim card in the phone, it will say Phone restricted

But anyone is able to change from one network to the other I thought? When I changed from Vodafone to meteor in 06 they just did it over the phone so Im presuming I can do the same again??

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,476 ✭✭✭✭Our man in Havana

When you switch networks they give you a new sim card. They kill your old sim and activate the new sim card. So you can't use the new sim in the locke dphone even thou it has the same phone number.

Sorry lads, it's locked to vodafone. Those codes on that site dont seem to be working.

Can anyone get the code for me?

    Nice one Gary

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 857 ✭✭✭whisht

If its locked to Vodafone and you calculated the codes for Meteor, of course its going to be wrong. Also, my guess is you have used up all your tries if you put too many codes in

If the code is wrong, you will get "code error"
If you have used all your tries, it will say "cannot undo restriction"

The site I linked to works 100% if you use the correct network, but like I said, if all your tries are used because you input Meteor codes, then its hardlocked and can only be unlocked by hardware
