Are the Nokia 5200 (Vodaphone.ie) and 6280 (3UK) now unlockable? Either by code or taking them into one of those shops?

    Any help appreciated.

If it is genuinely unlocked, then yes of course. But they are known to tell porkies.

I have posted this here a few times, but I am sticking it here again

Generally speaking, the ONLY phones you can get unlocking codes for using IMEI numbers are old DCT4 Nokia phones. Most new Nokias are either BB5 or DCT4+ and cannot be unlocked by code calculator.

Motorola can be unlocked by IMEI but there is NO free calculator anywhere worldwide, so if unlocking by IMEI, the only way is by using a paid service

As for most other brands, its either hardware unlock or codes from the network it is locked to, although if you are a Pay as You Go customer, generally they require that you have spent €130 approx on your account. If you are a bill paying customer, they "should" give you the unlock code (without charge) no problem.

Hey, I want to switch from vodafone to metoer, unfortunately i need to get my phone unlocked and vodafone won't give me the code (cos i haven't topped up with enough credit yet) and nobody here can get a code for me (needs a cable apparently - it's a nokia n70)

So what i am looking for is somewhere in Cork (city preferably) that can unlock & debrand the phone (don't want to have vodafone stuff on it) at a decent price. I've never had to pay to unlock a phone before, so i haven't a clue where to look...

    Any suggestions?

No problem. Just trying to help people who post and get no reply etc
Incidentally, there are codes available for Sagems, BUT its not a code calculator. They come from a database of Sagem IMEI numbers and corresponding unlock codes, and its a paid service worldwide, but they are SOOOOO bad and unreliable that it can take up to 2 months for a Sagem code!!!!! So, if using a paid service for code unlocks, Sagem is one that I would definitely advise against
