There is a brill web site "http://www.e-ireland.net/testing/nok.html" that unlocks your phones for free but but as far as I know you have to have the network Sim for the phone to unlock to let you put any Sim in then. I did ask the guy that I was buying the phone from to try it for me but he wouldn't so now I need a Plan B????

Anyone out there have any cheap or for free ideas??? Thanks

I think the Nokia 6500 is a BB5 type phone, and from reading on the net these can only be unlocked by getting the code from the network which it is locked too, or paying to get it done. I don't there is a free solution. Did you try ring GSM Solutions? - 01 8728722. See what they quote you.

    Good luck :)

I'm looking to get a Motorola K1 unlocked and de-branded.

I'm in Mullingar, does anyone know of someone in the Midlands who can do it?

I contacted ********.ie in Dublin who quoted €30 all in but I would have to drop it with them first thing in the morning to get it back late afternoon. That's not really a go'er. If I have to drive to Dublin especially for this I'd like to get it done within an hour or so.

**** wanted €20 for unlocking and €35 for debranding!

    Any help greatly appreciated.

    Post it to them.

I explained the situation to the guy on the phone, if he can't provide the customer service to someone who was going to travel a long way to give him business then frankly he can stuff it!

You will have to get the code off meteor or you can try this but use at your own risk as i've never tried it.

Up at the top of Mullingar, across from the bike shop there is an internet cafe, Ndirox Ventures. Try in there. They do unlocking and debranding

ring o2 or pop into an o2 shop and ask them if you.re on bill or if you.re on pre having spent over 150eur credit.

There's an unlocking sticky at the top of the forum too.

I think a lot of people have had their phone unlocked on this thread from reading back the previous pages. I don't think unlocking by codes is as possible as it was years ago. It's rare if you can get a free unlock code for a phone these days. I think it's down to the phone manufacturers/networks spending more money on securing that phones are harder to unlock so the network can make more money from the consumer.

    My 2 cents.
