    Pressing * multiple times gives you *, +, p and w characters

Don't enter any spaces, they are only there to make it easier to read
Hmm neither code worked.....how many tries do i get? I just got a code error for each one

Just to check it is locked to O2 Ireland, not UK, Germany etc?

You get 5 attempts, perhaps someone else entered incorrect codes previously? If this is the case you can only unlock via special hardware and cable

It is locked to O2 Ireland (I think) as it accepts my sisters O2 sim-card. The previous owner didn't try to unlock it so I'm not sure what's going on......

Congrats on great site by the way i am really enjoying browsing.
can anyone help me, i have an old LG U8120 from 3 and would like it unlocked so that my daughter can use it. she lost hers and she is saving up for another but i would feel more relaxed knowing i could get in touch with her at all times. i have asked around and everyone says it depends on which software version is in it, is this correct? any replies would be appreciated as this unlocking business is quite confusing to me.
    regards
    Gill

Ring O2 and ask them for your unlocking code. If you've used more than eur130 credit on that account and the phones registered on it then that's the easiest way.

Assuming it's locked to Vodafone. Note you only have 3 (sometimes 5) trys before the phone is hardlocked and can only be unlocked with a cable.

    IMEI: 357605007855237
    Model: 3120

    Try these:
    #pw+249805660720617+1#
    #pw+225095745322302+7#

If you can't get code from O2, you need hardware solution to unlock, if you are around South Dublin/Wicklow areas can do it for you

A friend of mine was upgraded to the N70 last week on o2, but he dosen't like the handset so I bought it off him. I'm currently pre-pay with o2 and was thinking of switching to 3, as a bill pay cutomer. The handset seems to be programmed to o2, as their logo is all throughout the phone. If I switch to 3 will I be able to use this phone on their network?
I've read some posts here with mixed results on unlocking the N70, so I'm a little confused, as I don't want to sign with 3 unless I can use this phone for their content. My plan is to buy a really cheap handset with 3 and use the old o2 N70 as my 3 handset.
If anyone could offer advise it would be great. Thanks.

First thing to do is check to see if the phone is SIM locked, easiest way is to put any non O2 SIM in the phone to see if it works.

If it doesn't your friend will need to get the unlock code from O2.

If the phone is unlocked, or you can get the code, the next thing would be to have it flashed to either generic firmware and order the 3 settings from Nokia's web site (not 100% sure this will work with their 3 Planet, but can test on Monday for you), or get it flashed with 3 Ireland firmware.

    Thanks skearon,

I am completely useless at this. Do I need to get the IMEI code before I enter this code or can I just enter it? If so, when and where do I enter it?

Just type the code in, no IMEI is needed

I was wondering if someone could help me.

I bought my mum a pink Motorolla V3 from Meteor with sim card for her birthday.

But now she wants to put her old Vodafone sim card into the V3.

Is there anyway that the phone can be unlocked so that it can use the Vodafone
    chip?

Meteor mentioned something like having to spend E130 to make it happen... :-(
