    it says "cannot undo restriction"

  • Registered Users Posts: 15,258 ✭✭✭✭Rabies

Might as well jump on the band wagon.

I'm in NZ now. Was going to get a new phone and sim, but I might as well just keep old phone and just get a NZ sim.

Currently with Vodafone Ire pre paid, only just changed back from a bill phone a few days ago.

The phone is a Nokia 6260

    IMEI: 3550450013560

    Anyone able to help?

Right, I'm stuupid and need the steps typed out in plain english that my simple mind can understand :)

Is it just a matter of putting in my new NZ sim, typing the new number and bobs your uncle?

    Thanks

That means other wrong codes have been tried on it. It's now hard locked and you'll have to bring it to an unlocking shop to be unlocked.

Your IMEI is missing a number, should be 15 numbers, and it's locked Vodafone Ireland is it ?

You'd have to bring it to an unlocking shop to be unlocked if you can't get the unlock code from the network.

    Thanks BB. Will try that.

    edit:
Before I try it. Will any numbers I have stored on my phone be cleared?
Most of the numbers are on the phone, only a few on the sim.

    Next question.

How do I put in the new number :D

Have a Sony Ericsson S700i locked to Vodafone Ireland.
No longer with them so can't get unlock code.
I want to give the phone to someone else - can it be unlocked easily?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 19,080 ✭✭✭✭Random

    @leche_solara
You should still be able to get the unlocking code, provided you'd topped up enough while you were with Vodafone. Ring them up and ask. 1907 from your landline.

Is there an option you copy numbers over to the sim?

    In plain english.

    Try this site.

    http://www.mob453.com/nokia/dct4.php

These are the results it came up with for your phone and ImI.

    Vodafone IE=Eircell.

    unlock code 7: #pw+804901532221105+7#
    unlock code 1: #pw+495547425327545+1#
    unlock code 5: #pw+072533100077631+5#

    Unlocking instructions:

The recommended order is to try code 7 first, followed by code 1 if the first code doesn't work, then code 5 should they both fail (this is rare though). Before typing the codes in, remove the sim card from your mobile phone, and then you can enter the code with the phone switched on.

To access "p" just press "*" three times within one second. To access "w" press "*" four times within one second. To access button "+" you have to press twice "*" within less than a second.

If the unlock is successful, you will see the message 'Phone restriction off' (if not you will get a 'code error' message).

    Caution:
If the unlock code has been entered incorrectly 5 times or more then upon entering in further codes the phone will display "cannot undo restriction" (or "Not Allowed" for Symbian phones - 7650 / 3650 / N-Gage) message instead of "code error". If you see the "cannot undo restriction" or "Not Allowed" message then you will need a professional unlocker to help you

If you want to be extra safety conscious copy all the contacts from phone onto sim (in the contacts menu of phone Copy contacts to sim)

Take out the sim unlock phone and re-insert the sim and copy the contacts back to phone.

Then insert the new sim and you can move or copy the numbers onto that.

    Hello!

Nokia 3220, locked to Vodafone. Can anyone help me unlock it?? Please??

    Its number is..... 351860016198907

    Thanks!

Ok, was about to do it just there when I ran in to a small problem. My sim can't take all of my numbers.
I have 260+ contacts in my phone, some have more than one number attached to the name.
Can't copy them all over in one go :(

Bah, might just be easier to buy a cheap NZ phone.

I've a Nokia N80 from orange in the uk, got it on ebay
I've asked the seller to contact orange and get it unlocked, which they did.
I've heard nothing from Orange yet
does anybody know what happens next, do orange send on the code for me to enter it into the phone, or do they automatically unlock it according to the IMEI

Sorry, you don't need the space, the space is there just so you can view the code more easily :)
