my better half has a 00 1.4 Hatch and to date has not got it NCT'ed

She gets it taxed every time no question and also ins companies have not looked for anything

Apart from the law kicking up at a checkpoint and maybe getting a few points ( she has been stopped several times and never looked for the cert)
What do you really need the NCT for ? is the car still insured? she asked axa the last time and they dident need it for insurance

Needless to say I am booking it in for her and it will more than likly be only valid for 6 months unless she tells them it was off the road

Cant get points for not having an nct and you dont need it for insurance.

the gards generally wont car unless you give them a reason to care, if shes a girl im sure she can get away with it.

The government lost too much money when they introduced the "manditory" nct cert when taxing your car. People were just not taxing the cars if the cars were failing the NCT. So they did away with the "manditory" aspect and just concentrated on clawing back the tax money.
As for the Guards, well I drive a 01 car and I have never been questioned. How can they If there is no manditory law to enforce it?
